    Keep Going

Just popping in to say KEEP GOING! Life is BEAUTIFUL on the other side. Yesterday I walked 5 miles, planted fall flowers, took a nap, prepared a family dinner, played yard games, ate and drank delicious food including beef, cookies, and wine, and then played a rousing game of “monster” where...

    Meditatation

Thought some might be interested. The JKZ app has a 45 minute body scan guided meditation. Some of the meditations on the app cost money but this one is free. Also if you have trouble with silent meditations trying chanting. I chant Nam Myoho Renge Kyo. Oops spelled meditation wrong in title

    On meditation

I found this very helpful, even though I considered myself a fairly experienced practitioner of meditation. Especially good is that questions are asked by someone who was seeking a relief from anxiety and panic attacks:

How I learned to LOVE meditation

You’ve heard the statistics: meditation reduces anxiety, depression and pain, while it increases mental clarity, creativity, memory and productivity. Why then, do so many of us resist doing it? Or start a practice only to abandon it a week later? Fear not! I’ve got practical tips as one who once...

How I Learned to Enjoy Meditation.

I had tried meditation repeatedly over several years knowing instinctively that it would be beneficial to me, but I could never enjoy it. I would sit and stare at a candle flame while my legs slowly went numb and my back ached. Even on the best of days, I only felt more pain during meditation...

    Day 39 Meditation

Oh, meditation, you and I don't seem to see eye to eye. I try to focus on my breathing and repeat the word "Peace" over and over, my mantra. But my brain won't slow down. Or maybe it's me telling my brain it can't slow down, there's too much on my to-do list I haven't checked off. Gonna try...

Meditation question: does it matter how?

I have always avoided meditation all my life because I found it boring to focus on feeling my breath. I never had a problem to stay still and enjoy the sound of leaves moving in the wind, watching waves, listening to bird song or at least imagine I am slowly canoeing trough a calm lake or other...

    Meditation

I tried. I really did. Got into a comfortable position, breathed into my diaphragm, let thoughts come and go like clouds in the sky. Then my dog came over and starting licking my fingers. I started giggling and that was the end of my meditation session for today. I love that dog!

    Panicky feeling after meditation

Hi all, I started meditating a few days ago for the first time. I’m only doing about 5 minutes a day at the moment. I tried it again just now and felt a sense of panic right after, like a panic attack was coming on...still feeling it now but trying to calm myself down. I wondered if anyone had...

How about some meditation in "these uncertain times"?

TUT. These Uncertain Times. How many times have you heard that phrase recently? Well, anyway. In "TUT" I have been enjoying rediscovering Dan Harris, author, app founder, podcaster and ABC national news anchor. His books are "10% Happier: How I Tamed the Voice in My Head, Reduced Stress...

    Any other meditators out there?

So TMS-based treatment (A. Gordon, Schubiner, Schecter, and Sarno) and mindfulness meditation are two approaches that have helped me immensely. But I find them inherently incompatible at times. In so many versions of TMS treatment, you have to confront/talk back to/stand up to your pain (in...

    Breathing problems interfering with meditation

I have been a mouth breather for my whole life ever since my nose was broken at age 3, despite having plastic surgery at age 30... But it never interfered with meditation as it has done since I developed the symptom about 10 years ago, of not being able to take a deep breath without coughing...

What do you do when anxiety surfaces? Sooth, meditate or lean into the beast?

Not all the time, but I'm starting to feel anxiety at times. Is that me actually starting to feel my emotions? I felt it last night and didn't really know what to do with it. It felt uncomfortable, and I was trying to sleep, so I put my ear buds in and listened to a meditation. What do you do...
