Section from the TMS Recovery Program: Identify Source of Abuse

It is important to practice self monitoring throughout your journey to recovery. Self monitoring includes being fully aware of your physical symptoms in the present moment and using that information to better understand your psychological state. The short article Self Monitor helps to explain this practice and the Self Monitoring thread in the subforum provides further discussion.

Next, take a moment to think about your inner bully. This inner bully may be directly related to a person in your life (as outlined in Part I of this exercise), or it might be a completely new invention. Give it a name. If you would like to express yourself creatively, feel free to draw a picture or create something that visually represents this inner bully. Now when you speak to the inner bully in your head, use this name and visual.
