    Exertion headaches

So, something new has poped up out of the blue. Last month I noticed when I go to the gym to workout, my head would start to hurt when I would exert myself, especially with upperbody exercises. It goes away within a few minutes, although I might feel a random twinge of discomfort for awhile...

    Learning to smile again

When I was a kid, I would always smile. Some of it was out of shyness, but mostly it was because I was more carefree. I can remember waking up as a child with a smile on my face. I didn't have any reason to smile, I was just... happy. How then did I become a person who hardly ever smiles at all...

    Can you see TMS?

Thanks for the reply. Honestly I don't know. I've analyzed it backwards and forwards and come to the conclusion there's no way of knowing what the catalyst was. I'm pretty sure it's not degenerated discs because I've had them for years. I wouldn't say the chiro is complete waste, they do give me...

    Can you see TMS?

Yes, I've been to the doctor and chiropractor. They didn't really find anything, except degenerated discs but that is nothing new. She thinks it's a muscle spasm. Although that didn't tell me why it happened or how to get rid of it. I have tried to ignore it, but it's not easy. I tend to obsess...

    Can you see TMS?

Can TMS cause symptoms you can visibly see? For me the back muscles on my left side are visibly tight and flat compared to my right side, which is causing the discomfort. So I know it's not in my head. And how do I know if it's TMS and not something else?

    Journaling

This might be a silly question, but does it matter if I keep a journal on my computer or is it more therapeutic to actually wright things down? I would think it wouldn't matter, but maybe the mind comprehends things differently?

    Day 1 Back pain

Thank you for your reply Walt. I do believe my emotions play a part. How much of a part I'm unsure. I tend to be anxious by nature and not very good at managing my stress. It would make a lot of sense that it is TMS, although my rational mind always wants to look for alternative explanations.

    Day 1 Back pain

To make a long story short, my back on my left side has been giving me a lot of grief this year. The doctor tells me its a muscle spasm. What happens is the muscles tighten up and cause a lot of discomfort. It makes it hard to concentrate on my schoolwork and enjoy life. I have been so focused...

    Day 1 Overcoming Insomnia

I've never had itching and burning sensations while trying to sleep, but I have had insomnia and I know it's not fun. Most all chronic insomnia has a psychological root and is usually enforced with negative behavior that keeps it going. Some of the tips I would offer are this: *If you can't...

    Back pain issues

Thank you Susan. I have read parts of Dr. Sarno's book, but it's been awhile. Maybe it's time for a refresher. I do tend to internalize stress and anxiety, and my body ends up paying for it.
