I was diagnosed as having fibromyalgia about 8 years ago, and then two years ago, chronic fatigue syndrome was added to my diagnosis. I'm 62 years old and until the chronic fatigue diagnosis I was always very active with friends and with family both physically and emotionally. Since the fatigue set in, I only have a few hours a day that I feel up to doing housework or other activities, and when I do more than that I am either totally exhausted for a couple of days, or have a bout of vomiting for 12 hours. I have been through many, many, specialists and different lab tests to rule out any other condition and the only things found were a slight low thyroid, which is now treated and normal, and a hyatal hernia which causes some acid reflux. My doctor recommended a book on the Mindfulness treatment for chronic pain, which he said reduced pain by 50% of his patients, but the book constantly lingered on childhood sexual abuse, which I am not a victim of, and seemed to be more concerned with selling the book than with helping the patient. I came across this site and thought I would give it a try since the doctors don't have an answer for these conditions.
