Please keep in mind that before treating any condition, including Allergies, as TMS or PPD, it is vitally important to consult with your physician in order to rule out any serious medical conditions.
To learn more about TMS and PPD, and to help you figure out if you have it, visit our An Introduction to TMS page and watch the video there. Some more guidance in figuring out if this approach is right for you can be found in the video at the top of our So You Think You Might Have TMS page.

I have suffered from allergies, sinus infections, bladder infections, dematitis, migraine headaches...and I could go on forever, for years. In the last 10 years or so I have had low back pain, sciatica, plantar facilitis, and recently peripheral neuropathy. I have had several episodes of PT, many chiropractor adjustments, seen the Dr., the Orthopedist, the Neurologist, had every test and xray possible, took many meds, had epidural injections, even went to an Allergist recently that told me I "just perceived the terrible numbness, tingling and nerve pain in my feet and legs". I happened to see John Stossel on 20/20 a few years ago and sent for Dr. Sarno's book "Healing Back Pain". I read it and highlighted several passages, etc. But didn't follow through cause my pain was too severe and I was too afraid. But...when the Allergist said I just "perceived" my pain, and every test said that I was "normal"...I got mad. I picked up Healing Back Pain again and bought The MindBody Prescription. I am reading and rereading it every day now for the past 3 weeks. So far I am off pain meds, I put away my vibrator and my heating pad. I am trying new things every day. I couldn't sleep on my right side for 5 years or more and now each night I'm sleeping on that side more and more. I have a husband that is always trying to "help" me, and I am trying to get him to let me step out and do things. I still have pain and it gets worse when I am "uptight", but little by little I can feel the victory. I have extolled these books to several people I know that are suffering. I look forward to a "pain-free" life.

Robert's Success Story For over three years Robert would have allergy attacks daily consisting of sneezing jags and even asthma attacks. He tried every possible remedy including allergy shots and antihistamine medications, but nothing helped. Dr. Sarno's books helped Robert understand the connection between his subconscious and his allergies. He is now symptom free, and no longer has to take medication or avoid allergic triggers.

Allergies are a common equivalent. Several of my clients have reported decreased or absent allergies after a Rapid Pain Self-Cure session. My protocol is to focus on the pain and notice what changes with the equivalents.

This excessive sensitivity of your immune system is not to protect you from foreign substances, but to keep your conscious attention focused on the body.

If ten people are standing in a field of grass pollen, not all of them will begin to sneeze, only the allergic ones. What is the difference between the nonallergic and the allergic people? The immune systems of the latter have become overactive under the influence of tension, the repressed feelings...This has been demonstrated, not occasionally, but repeatedly in TMS patients who have been told in the course of the learning experience that hay fever is a TMS equivalent and can be eliminated in the same way TMS can. And they do it.
