Progress made while taking a trip: We have nothing to fear, but fear itself

Diana-M

Beloved Grand Eagle
Hi, everyone!

Today is my birthday and I am thankful to be alive —even with my TMS! I am blessed to be at the beach— my favorite place in the whole world. And I got here by facing all my fears and coming despite my anxiety and doubts. Instead of failing, like I feared, I’ve been getting stronger on this trip, with symptoms way down and anxiety gone.

For years I have lived a 3-hour drive from the ocean— and all my best memories have been here at our local beach town. When my TMS made me too afraid to come last year, I was devastated. That’s why this victory of coming now is so sweet!

The minute I got here, and I saw the horizon and heard the waves, I felt like I was home again and my entire nervous system calmed down. This is what I’ve needed!

I guess they don’t know who actually said this—Franklin Roosevelt or Winston Churchill—but it’s perfect—“We have nothing to fear, but fear itself.

TMS is a monster in the closet that scares you so much you stop living. I hope and pray this is the very end of me letting this monster control my life.

Happy Birthday! I was wondering how your trip was going. So glad to hear this is exactly what you needed! Enjoy your special day!

Thanks!
Oh gosh, i still have to write up a post but i just have so much to say!
Let's just summarize it as: it was the best decision i could have made! Had a lot of symptoms a few times but i never handled them this good before :D
I hope your trip is also going well and you can take some of that calmness back home with you!

Yes, please write all about it, when you can! So great to hear it was a success!

Diana, I am so happy for you! You should be so proud of yourself for not letting TMS trick you into staying away. I know how hard the lead-up to the trip was!
Good for you!
Happy Birthday!

Diana, I've been thinking about you and wondering how the trip was going and I'm so very happy to hear about it!:joyful:

Also wishing you a very happy birthday, my dear, with a big hug for the celebration and the gift you keep giving yourself.
