Hi everyone!
I'm Laura - one of
Curable's three co-founders. First off, thanks for the feedback! We have worked on this program in partnership with many of the TMS professionals in this community for a long time now, so yes - a lot of time and effort has been put into making it useful, affordable, and accessible for those who don't have a TMS professional near them (or those who wish to supplement their one-on-one work with a TMS therapist).
The free trial, as you all mentioned here, consists of education. It teaches many of the same concepts you will see here, in Dr. Sarno's books, and in any other TMS literature. One of our biggest goals is to expand awareness of TMS, so keep in mind that the vast majority of our users have never heard of Dr. Sarno or been exposed to these concepts before. Everyone in the TMS wiki, by default, is already a bit more "advanced" than the average user

Nevertheless, many people who HAVE read Dr. Sarno's books still find the education in the program very useful. As you all know, TMS needs constant reinforcement! The more ways to learn, the better.
The full program consists of what you might call "tools & techniques"... there are hundred of guided meditations, guided imagery audios, expressive writing prompts, brain training techniques, and more. They're all uniquely centered around topics that TMSers struggle with.... connecting the mind and the body, identifying and releasing difficult emotions, working through childhood traumas, letting go of perfectionism & people pleasing, setting healthy boundaries, gratitude, forgiveness, and more.
There are several key members of the TMS community who are very involved with Curable. In particular, Dr. John Stracks is the official Medical Advisor who has been with us since day one. Dr. David Schechter has written a
great post for our blog and provided feedback on the program early on, along with Dr. Schubiner, Dr. Clarke, and Dr. Hanscom. The TMS therapist community has also been incredible to work with, and several of them are actively using Curable to supplement their work with patients. A few of these practitioners have even been kind enough to appear on our podcast and share their POV on TMS. So far, we have interviews with:
- Dr. David Clarke (author of "They Can't Find Anything Wrong") about TMS, childhood trauma, and parenting
- Dr. Tor Wager about the upcoming study he's leading for Alan Gordon and Dr. Howard Schubiner
- Dr. Fred Luskin, author of "Forgive For Good" about the healing power of Forgiveness
- John Evans, co-author of "Expressive Writing: Words That Heal" about the healing benefits of writing
- Dr. John Stracks about his own TMS recovery story, and what drove him to dedicate his career to this
- Leslie Kaminoff, author of "Yoga Anatomy" about his own Sarno recovery story
You can find all the episodes
here or subscribe to the podcast on iTunes if you're interested. Dr. Schubiner is slated to appear in an upcoming episode for those of you who follow his work.
In terms of "has anyone tried it" - I'd love to hear feedback from anyone in the community going through the program! So far, we actually have some pretty outstanding results. We survey our users about their pain before starting the program, and then again after 30 days of using Curable. The results so far, across all chronic pain conditions, have shown:
- 75% report feeling some degree of relief from their physical pain, and 34% reporting that they are feeling “much better” or that their pain is gone.
- 73% report feeling more physically active, greater control over, less anxiety about, and/or less fear around their physical pain.
PHEW - sorry this is such a long post, just want to make sure to get you the information you're looking for. We have also been in touch with Forest who has given us permission to create a product page on the Wiki, so I will post that here as soon as we have it ready.
One more question you didn't ask, but I feel the need to answer....
Why the heck are we investing so much time and effort in this? All three of us co-founders are TMSers, too. [Migraines, sciatica, and knee pain for me!] We had our lives drastically changed by this, and (like many of you) are trying to find a way to make the healthcare system and the world better with these methods. We KNOW this can work... it just needs some help reaching more people, and persuading them that THIS is what's causing their pain. That's what we're trying to do. Hopefully, those of you who are a little further along in your journey can find it useful as well.
And in case you are wondering... s/o to my co-founders
@John Gribbin and
@elue who are on the wiki as well

We don't find the time to post too often, but are happy to come in and answer whatever you need us to!
Laura
