    Hi Everyone.
My Name is Reza and I'm from Iran.

Unlike most people here , I actually don't have pains or TMS. And I've only been Introduced to it for about 24 hours! a number of my family members have pains and problems with their lumbar and cervical discs so I've been trying to help them the best way I can. I KNOW! my perfectionist personality and the fact that I've ALWAYS wanted to help people ( usually no matter the cost ) and specially in ways that virtually no one could , seems like the standard issue TMS guy/gal , But be it for being pretty active @ the gym and emptying my bad feelings/angers/fears there or just pure luck I don't have much pain.

To say a little about my family members who are in pain, They are mostly young women who have problems with their neck and or back. for example , My brother's wife started having back pains about 5 years ago. she was a 22 year old fit girl who did yoga regularly. after about 2 years in the pain , she went through the plethora of doctors and surgons and they told her that she NEEDED a surgery and it was absolutely vital. she was diagnosed with a herniation and stenosis at the L5-S1 level. she had a Laminectomy surgery then and it's been almost 3 years since and her pains are still there. she says that she can't remember the last day that she wasn't in pain! She did some physiotherapy and I've been trying to help her with messaging the soft tissue and what not , but nothing has caused a permanent solution to her pains. And I know that she has A LOT of psychological and emotional issues on her plate ( being in pain from the day she got married , having SO MUCH awful fights and issues with other family members , Her brother and sister being divorced roughly at the same time , the recent death of one of her brothers and so on..) Also recently she has been "diagnosed" with weird allergies ( her skin will itch , become irritated , red and beaten-like dark ) and I put that in quotes because in spite of the comprehensive tests , they couldn't pinpoint the exact problem and said that this is a very strange allergy and the only thing that they have diagnosed is that she can no longer eat sea foods and she is allergic to them. So I think that maybe her problem is related to TMS.

In this 24 hour period , I've watched about 5-6 Interviews with Dr. Sarno and read his book "Healing Back pain" and am really AMAZED of the information. If I would be able to help my family members get out of their pain, this LITERALLY means a key to having their life back and so much joy and relief for all of us.

Only challenge is that all the stuff is in English and they don't know enough English to be able to read the books. And while I can just say back the things that I've read in the books to them , I think it might have an effect on the impact of the material and it would be better if it was presented by Dr Sarno himself. So I will try my best to do so and Of course I would very very very much appreciate it if someone could send me the videos or give me a link to purchase the DVD or video Lectures to let me download them Online. The DVD Alone is pretty costly and even If I wanted to , They won't send it here (to Iran). So my problem is not with money because I think that it's worth the 50$ , The problem is that I can't get my hands on it easily. I think if I could make subtitles for the videos and let them watch it , It would help them so much more.

Thank you very much for reading my rather long post;)

    Good luck beerbuds

Thanks buddy , But Unfortunately Uk's Amazon won't ship anything here either..

    It's gonna be ok ;)

Also I have a question from the people who have taken the educational programs :

Which one should I give them to take? the "TMS Recovery Program" or the "Structured Educational Program" ?

    Thanks.

I would say use the Structured Educational programme first and then the Recovery Programme - it worked for me!
Perhaps you could contact the DVD makers and book publishers with a view to creating subtitles and/or translating the books? It would be fantastic for all people in your country to have access to them. If that is unfeasible then just go ahead and translate the programmes on the website - perhaps you could start the first Iranian TMS site?!

Hi, Reza. I'm Walt, in Chicago. I am 85 and in fine health after healing from back pain caused by TMS repressed emotions.
My childhood was not perfect but my parents divorced when i was seven and it left me with feelings of insecurity.

Compared to you people in Iran and the Middle East, my insecurity is nothing. But we can only feel our own pain. Haha.

I also recommend you start with the Structured Educational Program which helped me a lot.

I have more to reply but my $%%$#@@&^ computer keeps losing this site so I will close and try again to finish it.

Thanks , I'll try to do that. But First I want to have a hands on experience ( or a near one ) of the effects of the system and then get on to the publishing stuff ;)

    I'm pretty hopeful though ;)

As you plan to talk with them it is important they know the pain is real and can be excruciating. Nothing is made up.

They have to be willing to consider this as a possibility then in time reach 100% belief. Don't take it personally if they don't. You are planting seeds.

Good luck to you. Keep asking questions.

Hi again, Reza. The closest thing to having a hands-on experience of TMS healing could be this reply today in the
Sructured Educational Program from another member of the TMS community, Kevin:

Kevin healed 95 % from SEP

Welcome to the SEP and to the path of recovery. I am on my final two days of the program and I can say with complete confidence that I am a changed man. I started after 6 months of nasty low-back/butt/leg pain, could hardly walk, stand, etc. was in physical therapy, chiropractor, acupuncture, pain medications, etc.. the usual. My MRI showed 3 disk bulges/herniations touching nerves, so that is what I believe it to be....that is until I read Dr. Sarno and found this site.

I encourage you to really get involved, follow the instructions, do the journaling, take time to read all the suggested readings, and watch the videos. I'd say I'm 95% cured. There is still some very light lingering "annoyance", but I still have some work to do. I've been walking miles with hardly any pain these last few weeks. But even more, if the pain comes on now, it just doesn't bother me like it used to, I sorta just see it, acknowledge it, and go about my business. It took working the program to get to that point, but 6 weeks compared to 6 months is nothing! I made more progress in the first week than I did from two months of PT!!! It's going to challenge you and your "beliefs" in medicine, but you have nothing to lose. We generally wind up here when all else fails.

So give it a shot, especially before considering anything invasive like surgery. If you put the work in, you will get better. Have you read Dr. Sarno yet? I assume you have since you're here, but in case you haven't, definitely read Healing Back Pain. Again, it will challenge everything you've believed about your pain, and backs in general. You'll be encouraged to resume life as normal, i.e. stop ALL "therapies" (PT, chiro, etc.), stop taking medications, and most importantly, stop thinking STRUCTURAL problems are the cause of your pain and shift to psychological as the reason.....again, this can be difficult and takes some time to sink in, so be patient and kind to yourself.

It was a process for me. A few of the bigger moves in my case were: I ripped up and threw out my MRI test results (I found myself obsessively reading over them and comparing them to other results I could find on the web and even here on the TMSwiki site...); I got back to the gym and stopped using a weight belt; and I even cancelled an appointment I had made with a TMS doctor because it was more than a month away and it was hindering my recovery (that is, my 100% belief in TMS was lagging because I had this pending appointment, but as soon as I cancelled it, my recovery sped up significantly). Everyone's journey is unique to their situation, but I've found that really committing to the program and brining what I learn from it into my daily life has had profound results. Also, sharing along the way here in these forums has been extremely helpful - there's something about knowing that you're not alone in your TMS recovery that really helps. I encourage you to look through my past posts for some insight into my experience with SEP. Like I said, I'm just now finishing, tomorrow is my final day, and I feel like a changed person. It's amazing. And I feel as though it is something that one carries on with, not just like a one time 6 week thing and that's that...it has helped me to get to know myself and taught me tools to "deal" with my emotions. Learning and accepting TMS is a life changer for sure.

    Thanks everyone ;)

I spoke to two of my family members ( My sister in law and her sister ) about TMS and they weren't shocked at all! They were acting like yeah , it seems logical , I'm cool with it  Which motivated me more to try and help them.

    Also I got a new question for y'all :

Last night I Was talking to my sister in law's sister who was in a horrible ( but miraculous ) accident recently and now has pain in her neck , ( Also a couple of bulging disks there) she told me that from the age 5 she would get stomach aches and ulcers that non of the doctors could diagnose exactly. she knew that these had something to do with stress because the pain would increase during hard times and also that she was (and is) always an highly introvert person who wouldn't complain about her pains to others and this might create lots of tension. then she asked me if I knew anything about Meniere's Disease. she started having Meniere's Disease symptoms like vertigo , loosing balance , hearing loud ocean-like sounds in her ears etc. , about 3 years ago. she says it comes and goes , but it's really painful for her.

What I wanted to ask is that do you think this Meniere's Disease could also be due to the TMS? she said that her back , neck or stomach pains wouldn't happen together at the same time, but there have been times that the Meniere's symptoms like having vertigo after standing up or any other of them were present at a time that she were also experiencing back pain.

Hey. It's been a while and I guess no one could help me out with my previous post.

Anyway , I'm in the process of Translating doctor Sarno's lecture DVD and I wanted to ask you that do you guys find some of the stuff to be a little fishy or pre-arranged as well?

and sometimes people say things that I Just don't know what they mean!

For Example : The dude with the braided long hair says : " I had two frozen discs , I had an erupted disc" What do these things even mean?!

I've searched on the internet and no one has mentioned either "frozen" or "erupted" discs.. I know that there are usually different names given to a herniated disc , which is confusing in its own place , but I don't see these two terms anywhere. a little help?

It is pretty pre-arranged which is a bit of a pity, but I think they couldn't go any other way to get the message through in a somewhat orderly fashion.
With frozen disc I think he means two vertebrae instead of discs, like two vertebrae that do not move relative to each other. Erupted disc is the same as a herniated disc. At least, that is my interpretation.

I would use the term ''ruptured disc/protruded disc' in place of erupted and ''stiffness'' instead of frozen.
it is scripted and pretty corny alright. a shame no-one has taken footage inside one of his lectures.

Hi, Reza. Yes, those disc issues refer to herniated discs. Many or most of us have that, but Dr. Sarno says it doesn't cause pain.
Of if we have disc problems, they most likely were not caused by anything structural, but by repressed negative emotions.

    Hi.

I wanted to give and update : in case of my sister in law, her back pain is now almost completely gone, only acting up sometimes when she stands up for too long or... Which is so great! And I thank each and everyone of you who helped us get there beerbudstiphata

But she has developed allergy symptoms like hives , Rashes and itching of the skin, all over her body. she's been to a half a dozen allergy specialists and has taken many medications. she was also taking cortone pills for about two months. ( 1 month on EVERYDAY.)
finally, the "doctors" told her to give up everything in her life: any kind of carpets or rugs, going out to places where dust or pollen might exist, sweating, HER DOG!, etc.
She decided that this wasn't anyway to live, so went to an acupuncture doctor who told her to stop taking all of her medications and just focus on the acupuncture. she has been getting better sine then. I mean her skin would get black and blue , She would get itches so bad that even a cutter wasn't enough for relieving the itches!, but they're milder now.

Now this acupuncture doctor is telling her to give up her dog too. I wanted to ask if you think that's necessary? Do you think that she could get rid of her allergies the TMS way, with her dog in the house? Have you heard of a similar story of people with this kind of allergies and how they got better? Do you know a good source of information that is dedicated to TMS-Based allergies?

Sorry that I also posted this questions on the Ask a TMS Therapist section, But I need all the help I can get

    Thank you so much:)

    Hi Reza,

It's great that your sister is finding relief. I'll be honest, but I think acupuncture, at best is a placebo and not a cure. With real TMS healing one has to become aware of the inner conflict for the pain to dissipate. That said, these new symptoms she is experiencing now are just another manifestation of TMS and the brains way of keeping her distracted and focusing on the physical. I'd say it's best for her to continue working through the TMS protocol and it will help her recondition against those allergies.

    Best regards
