Might seem a little weird to ask but I'm going to ask it anyway. I've been doing some of the pain processing workbook and reading The Way out. I"ve connected dots from my past trauma to issues with deep frustrations with my husband and not being heard. My mind was always very loud. For instance I'm waiting on a call today from the rehab center to let me know when my husband will be released. That is causing me a great deal of anxiety. In the past, my mind would have just been focused on that phone call coming in. WHat are they going to say, how am I going to react. Since doing some of this pain processing work I'm realizing that I felt different and I couldn't put my finger on what was happening to me. And today I realized my mind is quiet. I've told her that's really a good thing but I just wondered if somebody can explain to me what's happening. Is this part of the healing process? Thank u.

Another question, my body is still flaring up in pain today even though my mind is quiet. I'm kind of told it's like open tabs in my unconscious that are still processing the emotional work. And I'm also told that these Neuro pathways are paved deep, so my pain is not gonna instantly disappear. But what I need to do is kind of just look at it from the standpoint of its just static noise. Sometimes I feel anxious trying to do this hard deep work because I find when I do, I flare up in pain. I assume this is just the process that by doing the emotional work that you can still suffer pain in your body. The price we have to pay for ultimately getting out of pain????

My suggestion is to stop this type of rumination. Just be with where you are today. I'm not sure who is telling you "these neuro pathways are paved so deep" type of thing, but whomever is saying this, avoid them. If it's your inner self-talk, then this is a great time to begin observing thoughts and differentiate between true thoughts and things that are "just thoughts" and are not necessarily truths. If you are eating chocolate icecream, and you think YUM, delicious chocolate - that's a true thought. But if you think I'm going to drop this icecream and be so sad that I can not eat it - that's just an untrue thought that your mind is generating. It's not inevitable, it's not happening now, and actually, it's the exact opposite of what is happening!
Thoughts are not truths. Thoughts are the things a mind "does".
Your pain will leave when it leaves, the true suffering is the fear, anxiety, worry etc. that comes along with the pain. You are doing the work to help with your suffering. Good work!
