Reading through these comments it occurs to me that maybe it's time for me to give up on Reddit completely actually (i don't do any other social media anymore)

Soooo, wondering if anyone has suggestions for other virtual communities that you've found valuable.
Any helpful discords? I'd love to find a space that is more IRT chat

There is some social media and chat spaces to enjoy, but stay away from anything at all about chronic pain or symptoms. This is not a social media topic, it's not a hobby or interest. Reddit is fine for some things eg. I find it helpful for my interests: eg. local gardening, makeup etc. Those are examples of where you should place your interests. Place your interests upon things that actually interest you or is helpful. This is getting back to normal life.
Limit your time engaging in TMS and chronic pain to this forum and your TMS work.
If you need something like a chat etc. there are spaces for that too. Dan Buglio, Rebecca Tolin, Dr. Schubiner, Nichole Sachs etc. offer various ways to connect with others in spaces that are moderated by someone like our own dear @JanAtheCPA who filters out the crap and keeps us on an even keel. Many of those sources do charge a fee. Nichole Sach's offers very inexpensive chat support spaces.

Indeed, Nicole Sachs now has three membership tiers, one of which is just $1.99 per month for what I think is probably based on her original private FB group. Today that's about £1.47 or €1.74 - less than the cost of just one 12 ounce single shot latte at Starbucks. For that price you don't get Nicole, but you do get moderators that she has hand-picked and vetted. The cost is just enough to require a mindful commitment to the group as well as the process, which I think is a super-smart move for a professional with a reputation to maintain. And Nicole knows that we're here for free, as are the many resources we bring here every day (fyi she and Forest have known each other since forever).

It's not on Reddit but the Runner's Dystonia Facebook group, is for sure one the top 10 worst places on the internet. (Second for me personally is the Runner's Dystonia thread on Let's Run which is like a decade old and full of terrible stories). The day that group was suggested to me and I joined and read the posts was the worst day of my life.

I needed that group at the start to find other people with my "condition" (I have yet to meet another person in real life with this) and those people have supported me and I talk to them one on one, but the overall group culture is 100% you will never recover and full of people who gave up trying to run or walk. I have been told directly multiple times that any gain I had made will not last and when anyone discusses any treatment they have done they are told it won't last and their Runner's Dystonia will find another way to come back. (Symptom imperative anyone?) None of them know they have TMS obviously. My last post in there was putting a link to @TG957 's book and I got no takers with that.

I forget who said this (Schubiner, Gordon, Schechter? Who knows I've listened and read so much recently) but they say quit all the pain, etc. group, don't talk about your pain, and don't let other people ask you about your pain for 12 weeks. I imagine after that 12 weeks people if they do the work most people do not go back to those forums.

100% Nicole should have done that, good for her. It is a rock bottom price and there is still so much "free" Nicole you can get on the internet anyway. I'm not really sure how people make money from podcasts, but I know that I have gotten so much value out of the hours of her podcasts I have already listened to and it's free for me, and all I have paid to her is $22.75 for her book and I'm sure she did not pocket $22.75. And that even comes with freebees if you put the order number in on her website.

I think even Dan Buglio only charges $100 a month for group coaching and maybe it's like 18 sessions a month or 4 a week something like that. If that's true, that is also rock bottom cheap. He could charge way more. Think of the all day long suffering for months, years, whatever that people have endured and this is a way out that is a bargain. Many people wouldn't think twice at handing over a few hundred dollars for a consult with some new MD to try and solve their problems. Maybe people have a hard time with people charging money when they get so much of their free stuff on the internet? I dunno. Similarly I've listened to hours and hours of Dan B. on YouTube and all I've ever paid him for was his book.

These people are experts and work HARD and have helped thousands of people. They should be well reimbursed for that.

And I'm sure the outcome of surgery is it works for a bit and then the pain comes back. Fortunately knowing this has helped me with my own surgery recovery now where if I have pain where it was I try now to not to pay attention to it and feel it was "botched"... but you bet there have been months of regret for me with that.

The FB group is well worth it. Her mods are incredible people, Phil de la Haye is one who also has their own group that is incredible, especially if you're interested in parts work.

I have a few internet reading research Hobbies.
    1. JFK assassination's (plural..all the connected ones like Dorothy Kilgallen, Roger Craig, Oswald)
    2. Late Period Egyptian Chronology
    3. Stone and Mineral transformation
    4. New Testament and Dead sea scrolls

All of those are speculative; people who don't agree will either point out contradicting evidence, and 'debate'...the old fashioned way: Without Ad Hominem Attacks....sometimes the disagreements will go on for pages, but you LEARN By reading those you DISagree with...sometimes they know something you don't

BUT..when I used to occasionally go on the "Health boards" forum ? OMG...they would delete any post about Sarno within Minutes!

Because of that phenomenon, I have never bothered with any other forums dealing with my miraculous recoveries via Sarno. I one time mentioned it on a neighborhood news forum...there were like 150 answers to a persons question about surgery and recommendations. I mentioned they ought to try reading "Healing Back Pain".
A Few Months later, a neighbor that I don't know sent me a PM and let me know she read the book and got better!! She was NOT the person asking the OG question, who obviously was inundated with "Medical Medieval Mechanics".

I think someone's well being and personal experience is way more important than my opinions on Carbon-14 dating....but we are one little teeny voice in a Maelstrom of Noisy Anger, the Medical Money Machine and unreasonable reliance on 'science'....or rather Laboratory science. This is like Religion to the adherents, even when their God isn't healing them

Schopenhauer said New information goes through 3 stages.
    First It is Laughed off
Secondly it is angrily denied and persecuted
    and last....accepted as conventional Wisdom.

we are right in the middle of step 2.

and that is Why Sarno is on every Grateful list. We got there Early!...in spite of all the other Noise

Regarding lab science since I have some background (not in the healthcare setting but traditional industry): lab science as advanced as it looks, it still depends on a lot of assumptions, operators and interpretation, so the results could only be interpreted more accurately with fully understanding the context, assumptions, methodology, and method limitations. However, a lot of times people just ignore the assumptions and apply the results much broadly than they should be. Also Dr. Sarno has a very good point, things that could not be measured in the lab does not mean they are not real or scientific, and it just demonstrates the limitations of lab science. Current technology advancements in the biopharma, gene therapy, super expensive equipment, complex methods etc.etc. are all based on the bottom-up assumption (cellular interactions affect symptoms) and all these details seem so important (biomarkers, targets, etc. etc.). TMS is like top-down approach so every one of us could just address our brains and that would affect everything, so simple and so beautiful and so effective but no profit.

    Agreed.
Every poster on those forums 'knows' as much as their surgeon....
You actually have a better chance of grasping certain scientific principles if you are NOT involved in the details of that science....TMS is a personal one, but before I read Sarno, I had already encountered that attitude. I asked a real 'physicist' a question regarding Nuclear Fission/Fusion Science. He looked at me like a dog shown a card trick and said "That's not my specialty". It sort of implies gate keeping (Pain and Back Science?)

I love the articles that came out this week. "C-14 results from AI push Dead Sea Scrolls back in time"
AI Presumes that C-14 dating is correct. so it is as Biased as the more vitriolic anti-Sarno Poster on any forum.
A container of Seeds from Present Day Santorini (Thera) were C-14 tested and determined to be from the early middle ages. Oops.
C-14 dating is done with a bunch of plotting points pre-determined by the sample tester. They determine WHEN they think it ought to be and give you the best data with THEIR methods 'calibrating' based on how WRONG they have been on other studies...circular thinking to the max!!

Likewise, Every single person on this forum has gotten the same Treatment when they have been told how screwed they are by a Doctor. What that doctor is telling you is that in HIS world, you are screwed. We Make the mistake of believing in scientists. I believe in Science. I do NOT believe in scientists, the more specialized, the less credibility.

I was warned by my Pain Clinic Therapist to not put too much faith in Sarno and to 'take it easy'..he had seen my charts.

That was '99. I have not taken it easy. I am still beating THEIR odds....or 'Calibration curve'

Well those are the most interesting and unique hobbies I've heard in a long time.
I just received a package that included a bar of soap that has Dead Sea mud in it and a little book about the Dead Sea. The photos of the Dead Sea are so unique looking.

Dr. Schubiner is one of the angels of the TMS world. He is a student (and former patient) of Dr. Sarno, and, in my opinion, the best in the field. Watch this documentary about him: https://www.thismighthurtfilm.com/ (This Might Hurt)
