In my neck of the TMS woods, which is CRPS, there are dozens of various virtual communities. Even the most positive ones are pretty much about how to carry your pain with a smile. I tried to reach out to people in the most positive one, posting a simple question about how much personal effort they would put into getting rid of CRPS if they knew that it was 100% up to their effort. I got over a dozen of responses, mostly that they would work day and night to do so. I was careful not to mention my own book, so there would be no accusation of self-promotion. After I sent them a link to Dr. Sarno's book, there was complete silence in response. Interesting to mention that every once in a while, there are posts about Alan Gordon's book, to which I dutifully respond that I fully recovered following the same method, but nobody bothers to follow up with me. The purpose of those forums is to vent, to figure out how to get more opioids out of the doctors, and how to make insurance pay for nerve blocks.

I ordered his book a few days ago and have watched some YouTube on him and heard him on podcasts... I will watch that one thank you!

I just sent him an email since *I think* he is still local to me. I know a few years ago he was still seeing patients a few towns over. Fingers crossed. But hey I'd take online support for sure, from him, his people, or the group! I very much like his approach.

I sent a message to Cormandi Health some time back to find out how much it would cost to work with Schubiner. Bit out of my price range but it was good customer service anyway.

Seems like the online groups are full as well from what I can gather? Curious if there is some other pathway that I am missing to what people were referring to with his community?

It’s honestly shocking how few people want to try to get better, even in the face of supposedly no medical hope. The work we do is hard—but not as hard as having TMS. The big hurdle for a lot of people is BELIEVING.

It is also a bizarre mindset nowadays that there is a magic pill for everything and expectation that insurance would cover it. But also sheer laziness.

I found it, $1495 for 2 hour eval and 1 hour follow up.

Sorry I didn't respond sooner but that's a bit less than they quoted me! LOL Not by much though.

I completely understand why TMS practitioners cost what they do, they don't get the follow up other providers do because they actually help people. I personally just can't justify the expense. I'm more than willing to do the work, even on my own.

I emailed Schubiner when I was at my worst and he told me the brain controls the immune system and I had TMS. That was over 2 years ago. I don’t know if he still responds to emails. Ive heard of people who were told by Dr.Stacks or other doctors they had TMS and they got better immediately. There are experiments done where a patient is helped by a doctor who looks unprofessional compared to a doctor who has all their diplomas on the wall and the patients who see the professional seeming doctor feel better than the patients who see the unprofessional seeming doctor. There’s an effect from hearing it from someone you believe is a high authority on the subject. Over a grand is a lot of money though and you don’t need to spend any money to get better even though it would help.

Yes 100% agree with those experiments! I mean I've seen it play out a million times with my TMS where my various doctors, some of who are really good at what they do - just not TMS lol - tell me I'm fine and poof! X symptom goes away.

Did he email you back for free or was that a grand? ;-)

Another michiganer:). It looks like Dr. Schubiner went to a different system. He was listed in Acension a few years ago and Acesion never responded back then. Dr Paul Gwozdz in NJ takes regular insurance like aetna, even out of state.

    Yay Michigander!

Ugh, I feel like I'm a few years too late with all of this! I am an Ascension patient too! It looks like the clinic he had there is no longer. I'd also take anyone that he worked alongside but maybe there is no one now. I'd love to see someone in person or have a TMS doc as like my normal doctor so they know when to take me seriously (almost never) or when I'm just spinning (all the time!)

I sent him an email through his website for free and he emailed me back a few days later.

Cool. It said 2-4 weeks, but if he responded earlier and personally emailed me back that would be fantastic. I'm not expecting that though!

I'm actually not an OG Michigander. I'm full blooded Massachusetts. Only been here for 5 years! I have no allegiance to any of these teams lol! ;-)
