Dr. Hanscom and Dr. Aria both explain that the "irritation" and on-going anger (when it is a state you find yourself stuck in, not just an emotion that passes fairly quickly when you feel it) but is synonymous with anxiety.
Yes, they are saying that you need to allow the irritability and not fear it, not fret over it. This piles on layers of anxiety, OCD - like thoughts, fears, worries etc. and creates that feeling of being a victim to these things. When you allow the physical sensations of irritability (not just thoughts about who you are angry with, why etc) and can be with that discomfort of feeling like you'll jump out of your skin if you are alone, or if you are still and just be with them, even for a few minutes, you will learn that you are perfectly OK in these times and feelings (I think sometimes you confuse feelings with thoughts. Feelings are sensations just like hot or cold is) and that they pass. We get out of the habit of allowing these things in our bodies when we get stuck in our heads. You explain it very well when you say that going for walks, catching the sun, enjoying the beach etc. brings on the sensations of calm for you - these are physical things that effect you mentally, emotionally and spiritually. Do not worry if they "stop" negative thinking, stop worrying about the negative thoughts.
Negative or any thoughts (including OCD like thoughts) are all are simply thoughts. As humans we are taught to subscribe to the meaning of thoughts, but for the most part, they are meaningless. It is our own minds that subscribe meaning to the thoughts and then we get caught up in them like a rat running on a wheel in a cage. If you let that rat run in a field, he will still run - but he runs freely without the cage. It's like thoughts. Let them run free but don't cage them so often.
In the video above Les Aria (who is one of my favorite TMS doctors) mentions is Youtube channel called Myndfulness. He has just a few exercises there that are fast, and begin to teach you to still your body and your mind, and you might enjoy them and use them to begin training your mind not to fear stillness or thoughts. He tells you how to do this clearly.
I loved your advices. I was trying to do stuff to calm my self down. To stop this irritability, than I start feeling this fear. The more I talk to people about my nervousness the more scared I am. My major problem is fear. Fear played a parte since was born. My father was a very fearful person, and also my grandmother. I still feel.afraid when the weather is cloudy.
How can we address fear? Should we feel it the same way, as the other emotions? Is it the sane mechanism. I remember doing affirmations to stop being afraid, the more I did, the fearful I was becoming.
I think fear is really the mind killer. I went full circle. What cause me this relapse, was the fear of the relationship I was having with that girl, fear of what I was doing with her, and of not being sufficient to please her. And then I started wearing the psycossomatic symptoms I start having, like the choking sensation, and then, the fear related to my chronic pain coming back, and not overcoming it due to be alone.
How can I overcome fear, alone. My mother isn't here anymore, and also my wife, which was a kind of a mother. Should I turn to God?
What I mean is that don't know if I should try to address my childhood traumas/fear (it makes me worse every time I do it) or to accept them and face life, it's challenges, and just let all the negative emotions that arise go away. In others words, accept who I am, a very sensitive person, contrary to what Joseph Dispenza idea of losing the habit of being yourself, which is giving me more stress and fear. Although we have to learn to be resilient. I think The thought of doing therapy to address my inner fears is doing me more harm than good, and scaring me.
O feel a lot of rage because I don't understand why I end like this, alone, without a family, it seems nobody cares about me. Always fighting to have things to do, to have company, etc. I also feel rage if my old hobbies because they envolve being alone.
The problem is that I'm having these constant waves of rage. I can deal with them, in a TMS way, it eases up, for brief moments. But they are too many.
It's good to know at least the reason for all this rage, my wife abandon me after my son was born, even before she went out if home. I'm also in rage because my inner child still have no substitute for her. I understand everything, but I insist on turning against the external world so I feel this inner rage. Because the external world seems not to care about my needs.
