Back pain returned after 7 years but swiftly sent packing.
I have been free of back spasms for 7 years after reading Dr Sarno's books and doing the recovery programme on this site. Last week it came back and it was so bad that I could not even put my shoes and socks on. I immediately began to think about what might be troubling me. My first thought was that might have been triggered by seeing my 93 year old Aunt but as I went deeper I found that it it was something was unaware of consciously. Two weeks ago I found out my son has been riding a motor bike for the last ten years but hiding it from me. At the time of discovering this I was very understanding as I could seen that the deception came form him protecting me from fear and anxiety. I laughed and joked abut it with friends and was the understanding , good humoured parent who realises she can't control a grown up son . My brother was killed on a motor bike twenty years ago and years before that, so was my uncle. Once I faced the terrifying fear and horror of the thought of my son on a bike, I then felt horrible rage at him for doing this. As I acknowledged all this, the crippling back pain disappeared and also, the double vision that I have been experiencing recently went, as anger about other less dramatic stuff that have been repressing surfaced. I honestly did not have a clue about all my fear and anger before I sat down to think about what might be causing the pain to reappear.
