Suffering from most likely small fibre neuropathy in legs.
I had never heard about this disorder other than recenlty hearing other people with TMS who have it.
So it stuck out to me and a few days ago I came across it when I was reading Dr. Schubiner's book "Unlearn Your Pain" 4th edition. This is from the section where he is talking about Common Mind Body Symptoms. This is from page 70:
"Tingling and numbness sensations:
It is common to have unusual sensations on the skin. These often occur in the hands or feet, but can occur anywhere in the body. Itching is another common condition. Medical testing, as always, is necessary to rule out actual nerve damage due to vitamin deficiencies, chemotherapy, or an alcohol use disorder. When a diagnosis of small fiber neuropathy is made, you can be assured that it is a mind body condition, as the nerves are actually working well. Many people are told that they have idiopathic neuropathy. If there is no evidence of nerve damage based upon the neurological exam, you can be assured that this is a neural circuit condition. EMG testing often shows some mild "damage," but just like MRIs, these findings are usually seen in normal people without pain. Even skin biopsies said to be diagnostic of small bier neuropathy are seen in normal people."
CONGRATULATIONS! Unless there is something they found as above or something you are not telling us, you have TMS! This is FANTASTIC NEWS as you can heal yourself. I'm being completely serious. Trust me, it is great news. Even Dr. Schubiner who is an MD and one of the TMS Greats says "YOU CAN BE ASSURED IT IS A MIND BODY CONDITION"
I've heard a lot of crazy TMS recovery stories. Mine will be one some day. I was diagnosed with a very rare neurological condition and one that my doctors had never seen before. I also developed it 2 months after surgery which I believe was the stress and straw that broke the camel's back for me to develop my severe symptoms.
I lost my ability to walk one day and I saw so many doctors including 2 neurologists and there was nothing wrong with my nerves or my muscles or tendons or bones. I was told it was a terrible disorder I'd never recover from, but no, it was as Dr. Schubiner said, a neural circuit condition (ie a Mind Body condition) which I have the power in me to cure.
I'm still early in my recovery as I had a lot of missteps in the traditional medical world before I found Dr. Sarno. But 14 months ago I couldn't walk at all and was in a mobility scooter, and last week I ran a 10k. To make sure it wasn't a fluke, 2 days later I did it again.
Thus far my primary "disorder" I have only found in Schubiner's book but I would suggest also reading all the Sarno books. Read others too and don't be bothered if your symptom is not there, if the other things speak to you (ie TMS personality and your life) and your symptoms behave like the examples say for back pain, then it's you too.
