According to this article, multiple studies have found that opioid use may actually increase pain sensitization (possibly independent of drug tolerance) over time, a condition known as "opioid-induced hyperalgesia."

We all know that TMS work deserves a much more powerful and prominent place in ending the opioid crisis. This is another compelling piece of evidence in support of that. Not just as a straightforward replacement for opioids in chronic pain treatment, but as a part of addiction recovery - especially for people for whom chronic pain complicates the weaning process.
ETA: I hope my post title isn't misleading. The article isn't about TMS at all - I was just thinking about how useful TMS work could be in dealing with this issue.
