Here's what I do: I ask myself if the symptom I'm having is concerning enough that I should be seen immediately. That's a judgement call that is my responsibility. Most of the time I scoff at the symptom, assume it's TMS, examine my inner dialogue for a new source of stress or anxiety that my TMS brain has decided to repress and distract me from, and I move on.
More tenacious symptoms may require more action, which include mindfulness techniques like journaling and meditation.
