Diana, you are totally right about Grief. Lately I'm having these nightmares, with my ex. Why she is adamant not to come back. After all I did for her. I think it is my brain trying to resolve this conflict. I be been with her for more than 30 years. I feel cheated, disappointed. I invest my best years on her. I guess this is my major conflict, and I just use other stuff as targets/distractions for this rage that is connected to my fail marriage. This is such a temptation. It’s always there. Because aging and this world make it even scarier, and harder to find peace. But that is our challenge. For me, it has been my faith in God that helps me, I would feel all is lost without that. And to be honest, even with it— every day is still a challenge to stay hopeful. I avoid the news and I don’t let people talk about scary things around me— political angst and medical fears. I take a deep breath and ask: am I safe now? Right now? Then I answer myself. Yes. Right now, all is well. And then I do some deep breathing and let that soak in.
Every scary thing I entertain makes my symptoms flare. I’m just looking for relief. There is nothing I can do about how this world is evolving. It’s useless to take on that burden. I do think as people get older they tend to mourn how the world is changing. I noticed myself thinking these things about how young people do things differently. How families have changed since I was young etc.. but young people are just living, doing the best they can just like I did. There’s a lot to learn getting old oh my gosh. And I think one of the biggest things we have to learn is to just let things go. Just let them go.
I witness your loneliness and your sadness about losing your family. That’s really sad. I’m sorry for your pain. I hope it heals. Hope you get past this and feel better. Grief is a heavy load. I’m in another TMS healing group and the emphasis there is not on rage, but on grief. The mentor believes that grief is at the root of most of our TMS. That’s a little food for thought for you.
I'm also terribly afraid of loneliness. It almost choke me. I feel breathless every time I think about it
