Morning rage...

This is such a temptation. It’s always there. Because aging and this world make it even scarier, and harder to find peace. But that is our challenge. For me, it has been my faith in God that helps me, I would feel all is lost without that. And to be honest, even with it— every day is still a challenge to stay hopeful. I avoid the news and I don’t let people talk about scary things around me— political angst and medical fears. I take a deep breath and ask: am I safe now? Right now? Then I answer myself. Yes. Right now, all is well. And then I do some deep breathing and let that soak in.

Every scary thing I entertain makes my symptoms flare. I’m just looking for relief. There is nothing I can do about how this world is evolving. It’s useless to take on that burden. I do think as people get older they tend to mourn how the world is changing. I noticed myself thinking these things about how young people do things differently. How families have changed since I was young etc.. but young people are just living, doing the best they can just like I did. There’s a lot to learn getting old oh my gosh. And I think one of the biggest things we have to learn is to just let things go. Just let them go.

I witness your loneliness and your sadness about losing your family. That’s really sad. I’m sorry for your pain. I hope it heals. Hope you get past this and feel better. Grief is a heavy load. I’m in another TMS healing group and the emphasis there is not on rage, but on grief. The mentor believes that grief is at the root of most of our TMS. That’s a little food for thought for you.
Diana, you are totally right about Grief. Lately I'm having these nightmares, with my ex. Why she is adamant not to come back. After all I did for her. I think it is my brain trying to resolve this conflict. I be been with her for more than 30 years. I feel cheated, disappointed. I invest my best years on her. I guess this is my major conflict, and I just use other stuff as targets/distractions for this rage that is connected to my fail marriage.

I'm also terribly afraid of loneliness. It almost choke me. I feel breathless every time I think about it

It's not just that. With smartphone cameras everywhere we are becoming to perceive the world as it really is, full of injustices and power abuse. Remember the human being evolved to live in small groups, we are not wired to cope with information coming from everywhere at the same time.

It makes perfect sense, what you are saying. I remember once talking to a friend that was a great photographer, but stop taking photos, and was disappointed with it, trying to convince him to make a YouTube channel explaining about photography, and then he answered me back, "why bother? They have thousands of channels, and can access to much better photographers on YouTube, than i". In the old days we always went to our local friend photographer, to ask him about photography, or to a specific person that we knew, that was passioned about a certain thing, that we didn't know about, recipes, gardening tips, etc. The beautiful girl in the neighborhood now feels frustrated, because she has to compete with thousands other girls on Instagram. Big artist can now access to millions, but smaller ones remain in the shadow, and lost in the middle of all this amount of information. I mean, we use to feel important in the community, seen, and now we are being obliterated by the internet, and AI

There's this scene that I love on the movie Contact where Jodie Foster is asked what single question she'd do to an evolved alien being, to which she replies how did they manage to survive technological adolescence. Well we are in a point in time where we're being bombarded by algorithms, AI, ads, intrusive suggestions, bots... all of those trying to sell you something by telling you are less than you really are.

It got harder, I know, to find those communities you talk about, in a world where almost everybody is locked on their cell phones, but it doesn't mean we're screwed. There is the Slow Movement happening right now full of people going back to nature, conversations, book clubs, savoring meals etc. and it's much more prominent there in Europe by the way. There's also the danish habit of hygge that I think every TMSer should just look it up.

I love that movie, Contact 🙂. I usually quote that movie, when I say that science is today the new religion.

Feduccini, just to add, that I have many Brazilian friends. Most of them aren't happy also with what is happening in Brazil. I just wish our liders really care about their own countries, and not about themselves. Thanks for your inputs 🙂

It really comes down to politics. Brazil as many other countries around the world got divided between two sides and the opinions follow along. People will either say the country is much better or that it went downhill, depending on what side they're gonna vote in three months.

One thing that also brings me rage and fear is the sense that I'm losing pleasure in life. The things that used to give .me the kicks aren't giving.me anymore. It scares me
I've felt this way in my life, but I've come to understand that it is a choice. I think it comes from taking a passive stance that life is something that happens to me, rather than the result of a series of choices I make. You have agency and can choose differently, but you have to change your thinking first and shed the victim persona. It's hard work but achievable.

I agree with you. But I still have so many questions. I'm playing the victim persona, because i still don't understand the rules of this game (life).

One thing that I don't understand, if we are in this life only to reach peace of mind, why are we born in a physical body? If rage is to let go, why do we feel it? Why do we incarnate, If the path to enlightenment is to develop our spirituality?

Life is running so fast, as we age. It's like we are falling into this deep sleep. Why do we felt more alive, when we were younger?

By the way, I remembered a song that embodies what I feel. I'm lost like moby

Emotions are supposed to be transient (and felt in the moment), so rage much like any other emotion is supposed to be let go in that sense. Emotions are information to help us survive, that's why we feel it. The dysfunction comes with suppression/repression, which isn't supposed to happen (although sometimes it's unavoidable).

What is causing me stress now are RUTS. I think we are less immune to these RUTs as we age. RUTs creat stres, than stress creates anger. I used to double check if I left something cooking before I leave home. Now, when I double check, I start to develope these physical manifestations of stress/TMS, I have to stop it and just leave. OCD creates stress. Thinking about the same thing. I wonder how people like Howard Hughes, Elvis, Michael Jackson, marlin monroe, etc, suffer from these corrosive inner thoughts. These RUTS create irrational fears. When you spend your time mostly alone, you are flooded by them. Maybe human beings aren't designed to be alone. Why do people say that are getting crazy when they have time to kill? You feel weird when you think too much...

Why does a OCD behaviour, scares you? Is it because you fear that you aren't in control of your body? That your are addicted to that behaviour? That you lost free will? Because when you are in stress you feel like you are in auto-pilot

This is the deepest question of all. I've spent my life trying to answer this. I believe it is because we have free will and spirituality must be a choice. Every moment of our life is an opportunity to choose. Choose love, peace and forgiveness. That is the only way to experience these. I think it was Buddha who said "Pain is inevitable, but suffering is optional."

It is difficult not to suffer. Life is passing by.
It's like a train, it gets the momentum, and is speeding up. This year passed much faster than the previous one. We all know how this ends. I just wish everyone knew what is the purpose of living, why are we here.

I feel much better now, I guess it was a change in cycle, still all these questions prevail. I really think life is divided by cycles. Doubts arises but we manage to move on.

It's good to know that this forum is much more than simply trying to know for sure if this, or that particular symptom is TMS.

It's more difficult to live being depressed and miserable all the time. Better to be happy. Life is passing by.

It's like a train, it gets the momentum, and is speeding up. This year passed much faster than the previous one. We all know how this ends. That's why it's better or I should say it's vital to be happy and see the positives around. It's just easier this way. And it's a habit. You work on it, a little today, a little tomorrow. Until you master it.

The purpose of life is to find God. Within yourself. That's what the saints said.

But until then...you are in school here. And being in school is not easy. It was not supposed to be easy. You have to make the grade. How? By passing the tests. Getting rid of your bad habits. Negative mental patterns, and so on...Easy? No. Vital for your happiness? Yes.

Why be a skunk? No one wants to be around them. People run away from skunks. Better be like a beautiful rose. Your fragrance attracts people. Roses have beauty, elegance and great magnetism. It's hard to resist their charisma. Even when they are crushed ... they still give their mesmerizing fragrance around...until they die ... So, it's better to die like a rose.

Solitude

by Ella Wheeler Cox

Laugh, and the world laughs with you;
Weep, and you weep alone;
For the sad old earth must borrow its mirth,
But has trouble enough of its own.
Sing, and the hills will answer;
Sigh, it is lost on the air;
The echoes bound to a joyful sound,
But shrink from voicing care.

Rejoice, and men will seek you;
Grieve, and they turn and go;
They want full measure of all your pleasure,
But they do not need your woe.
Be glad, and your friends are many;
Be sad, and you lose them all,—
There are none to decline your nectared wine,
But alone you must drink life’s gall.

Feast, and your halls are crowded;
Fast, and the world goes by.
Succeed and give, and it helps you live,
But no man can help you die.
There is room in the halls of pleasure
For a large and lordly train,
But one by one we must all file on
Through the narrow aisles of pain.

Oh, you made me Google the word skunk 🤣🤣 I remember the band skunk anansie, though. Now I know what it means.

Sita, do you believe in manifestation? 17 years ago, when I recover from TMS, I read about Joseph Murphy. I understand that if you see yourself as a sick person, or if you believe that you have a physical injury, your body will put it into reality. That's a Fact.

I try to manifest in others areas besides health, but I never had any success. I reach a point where my inner self wants more from life. He screams for love, adventure, excitement, friends, etc, but life seems to have a mind of is own.

I just wish I could rest in a place, knowing that my life went according to what I wanted. The sense that we are wasting our youth/life is so powerful.

I can rationalised on what you said, and it makes sense, but my inner child wants more. Why do we need to proof to others that we are a beautiful rose? That we have value, that our life has meaning? Why do we have to marketing ourselves to have a compagnion? why do we need titles?

Ps: I wanna be a rose all the time 😀😀
