hi Diana and Baseball, about 1.5 years ago, I cut off any family members who said I was "bad" in some form or another, except my wife. It felt strange at first, but you do what you have to do. I don't want my brain to take in any more counterproductive programming.
I have a little son, 7, who's pretty nice most of the time, but even at this age he will dump his emotional garbage on his parents, like me. I don't like that even now, it's hard to imagine how unpleasant that situation of both of yours could be when you have adult children who push your buttons. I wouldn't put up with it. I couldn't.
Ybird mentioned money. Money is a surrogate for survival in our modern world. Loss of money is like someone taking away your food in the cave for the evening, it's like clan rejection. It's very much underrated as a source of rage and anxiety. If you rely on the government for anything, they'll only give it to you with all kinds of strings attached. Disability for a mental or physical problem - you'd have to be a babbling or catatonic baby in diapers to get anything for mental problems, your brain fried by 10 different pharmaceuticals. "Physical" problems, you'd have to let them carve you up like a turkey carcass.
Money will buy you isolation away from triggers, and it can buy you isolation in a sense of living with a group of people just like you. The same demographic, same socioeconomic status or political ideas, so you don't have to look upon poor, desperate, angry people, etc. There are many nice, warm, peaceful retirement communities that ban children, ban anything potentially annoying. It's funny, they actually say that in the governing laws, "any potentially annoying behavior is strictly prohibited." What money wont buy is relating peacefully to other sorts of people. Look at Elon Musk, he has all the money in the world, but he had intervertebral surgeries/disc replacement. Money couldn't solve his TMS, not when he had to interact with other people in the world. But look at Question 20 here:

20. Remember, someone who can change their life to take out major stressors (quit a job, divorce etc) will get better faster than ones who cannot and has to accept their life the way it is and recondition themselves. Unless the circumstance is extreme or very easy to fix, it is to your benefit to recondition yourself than to change your life.
Would Eckhart Tolle be so peaceful without his estimated net worth of $80 million? What happened when he was interviewed and asked questions about money in his own life?
Anyway I had a question about this ACE score thing. Question 1, did you feel you didn't have enough to eat. For years as a child, I didn't have enough to eat. Not because we were too poor, but because my parents were extremely controlling. They wouldn't let me eat all the food I wanted, so I was often hungry. I was never overweight either, they were just controlling. Is that a positive answer to this question?
