I can't even believe it, a list of improvements

I still can't believe how much better I feel. I've had pain in my neck for maybe 10 yrs or so, plus shoulder and chest etc. IBS symptoms, hiatal hernia... The one that recently was making me feel worst was the hiatal hernia and the IBS. Weird chest pains and stomach pains drove my anxiety up the wall. I would look up symptoms for each little pain I felt. I've thought I had all kinds of things. Now I look back to just a few weeks ago and kind of honestly laugh at myself. I can't believe how much I've changed. I think I'm about 90% better. I still have little pains here and there trying to catch my attention but I don't let them. My anxiety is so much better, still needs work but ok. Now I'm wondering if any of this applies to overeating, can't seem to control that but could be part of anxiety. Anyway I just wanted to list a few of the things I have seen vanish or improve. I'm sure theres more but I'm not worried about them.

1.Mysterious leg pain from one area to another... Gone
2.Neck pain from accident 10 yrs ago.... Gone, tested by sleeping on pillows that normally hurt..
3. Shoulder pain and upper back pain due to misalignment or muscles knots .... Gone, tested by slouching all day in front of my PC lol...carrying heavy stuff
4. Hiatal Hernia, heartburn or chest pains....... 90% gone, tested this by overeating, having salsa, lemonade all my triggers even Caffeine!
5. Chest pain with Caffeine, avoided all caffeine... been drinking caffeine pain gone, anxiety with caffeine only one small incident didn't last long
6. IBS- Almost completely gone, tested by eating all the triggers lol
7. Costochondritis- Some sharp pains here or there and sore spots but they only last a few minutes and they haven't continued
8. Migraines- I've stopped 2 or 3 but still had some, one due to death of my 16yr old cat (cried so hard) and the other was with a cold.
9. Compulsive worrying- almost all gone

That's so great that you've alleviated a lot of your symptoms. Do your symptoms try and creep up sometimes and if so what do you to make them go away, any special technique that works best for you?

"4. Hiatal Hernia, heartburn or chest pains....... 90% gone, tested this by overeating, having salsa, lemonade all my triggers even Caffeine!"

Wendy - Congrats. What you listed above is what I"m dealing with now. In the past I've had non-stop migraines, burning mouth syndrome, compulsive overeating -- all those are gone, and left before I even learned about Sarno, but were replaced with other things. But the daily constant heartburn and chest pain (left side mostly) have persisted for about a year. I keep wanting to look for a structural cause (ie tests and more tests) but know that's not the answer and will only keep the cycle alive. What helped you with those symptoms? It's so hard not to freak out about it. Are you doing the SEP program or?

Great! You're golden :) Well, if only it were that easy.

This post sums up so much about TMS recovery. Read this- there's no need for me to write words of advice when it has been so clearly and thoroughly explained by someone who experienced such a dramatic recovery.

http://tmswiki.org/forum/threads/my-tms-recovery-plan.12499/ (My TMS Recovery Plan)

I still need to remind myself of this from time to time with lingering or new symptoms: the goal is not to get rid of them, but to understand that they are caused by TMS. Big difference in where you shift your energy!

The SEP is a great starting point to get you going. I recommend digging in, but not in a forced way. Be gentle with yourself!

Hi Wendy! I was wondering what you did to release these symptoms?

Very nicely done. Can I ask what "actions" you took of any? Journaling etc. what were your most useful tools?

I've been having the symptoms of Hiatal hernia too. I'd be keen to know what worked for you.

In terms of my symptoms, I've been to the GP here who is slow and seems to be gatekeeping and blocking me from being referred to a specialist, as she doesn't think its that bad (REALLY!?). So far had stool sample, Blood pressure, ECG all came back normal. I have blood test tomorrow at her request. I may have to go private and book a gastroscopy which will be expensive, but until I rule out anything nasty, I won't be able to continue with my healing.

You may already know this, but hiatal hernias are exceedingly common. Most of them cause no symptoms. Hell, a 70-year-old co-worker of mine has a massive hiatal hernia, and it doesn't really give her much trouble.

Def good to get scoped and examined, but most of the time it amounts to "here's these PPIs to take indefinitely" or recommendation for the archaic procedure known as fundiplication. Personally, I'm avoiding both and treating mine as TMS, as I've learned that it is a TMS equivalent.

Thanks for the reply,

It is definitely re-assuring to hear others with similar have managed to treat it as a TMS symptom.

They did try me on PPI's but they weren't helping and actually making me feel worse. I had a blood test today, but if that comes back all clear which I think it will, then I'm going to try and work on it from a TMS perspective, I wouldn't be surprised really, life has been stressful lately and my most common symptom, eye strain has pretty much gone because I know its TMS.

Thanks again, I'm feeling more positive :)

I made the mistake of looking this up, and now I'm worried I have it because starting from about age 16 or 17, I periodically get this thing where food gets stuck somewhere along the way (feels like it's around chest area). It is exceedingly uncomfortable until it passes. Even though I can still breathe when this happens, it induces a panic as if I can't. And I can't get water down. Once it happens, it's more likely to happen again in the coming days and weeks unless I'm very careful while eating. I wonder if this could be a hiatal hernia and the esophagus is constricted or inflamed or something. Does that sound plausible? I see that "balling up feeling of food" is a symptom of hiatal hernia.
