I have been told, for the last 3 years, that my neck (loose ligaments? Misaligned c1 and c2?) Is the cause of my symptoms ( dizziness, headaches, neck pain, etc). Nothing traumatic has ever happened to my neck other than mild "whiplash" that happened 2 years before my symptoms came on. However, because that was the only answer I have ever gotten (medically cleared), I believed this and have been doing physical therapy, adjustments, prolotherapy, heat/ice, etc etc (you all know the drill) to "fix" my neck.
I now believe I have TMS but I am having a hard time believing that I don't have a misalignment that is causing these issues. My brain keeps saying "maybe it's both." My chiropractor has shown me, physically with a spine model, what my vertebrae look like when misaligned which then "presses" on my brainstem causing the issues I have.
How to I unlearn what they have told me and stop thinking physically when I get neck pain which causes headache/dizziness? Should I visualize my neck being in alignment?
Thank you!
