I don't understand why using Deep heat or massage should be a problem when trying to recover from TMs as unlike things like osteopaths they just treat the symptoms rather than a physical cause of pain so using them does not seem to me to reinforce any physical structural/ diagnosis. Maybe because it focuses your brain on the pain however when the pain is severe it's very hard to take my mind off it anyway. I'd be for any thoughts on this thank you very much

    Hi Ellie.
I think Sarno recommends stopping any of the physical treatments so that we can focus on the role of the subconscious in creating the pain. He often says, "Think psychological!"
However, I've had some success in using heat when one of my killer headaches arises. The heat relaxes the muscles enough that I can challenge my subC and make the headache pain cease.
I'd say go with what works for you!
