I'm 66 years old and I'm on Day 8 of the educational program. I first read John Sarno's books about 20 years ago and I immediately realized that I had TMS. An appointment with a doctor trained by Dr. Sarno confirmed this diagnosis and I was fairly quickly able to rid myself of the back pain that had plagued me for a number of years.
For some reason, I put TMS out of my mind after my back healed, but I continued to have health problems: carpal tunnel (I had surgery to "fix" this problem.), hip problems, neck pain, GERD, lots of food intolerances and gut issues, ulcer, frozen shoulder, tendinitis in both elbows (I had surgery on both of them), bursitis in my hip, a recurrence of elbow pain after healing from surgery, SVT (heart problem). Phew, I think that's it!
About ten days ago, I was somehow drawn to getting Dr. Sarno's books out of my bookcase. I've re-read Healing Back Pain and I'm now reading Steve Ozanich's The Great Pain Deception. I've been so used to focusing on my ailments and going to physical therapy that it's taking me some time to instead think psychological! I'm convinced that all of my ailments are TMS! Now to convince my brain!
