What was the most disheartening thing a doctor has told you about your symptoms? In what ways have you kept that in your mind?
I think it's when all the specialists that I was seeing including my doctor ( a D.O.) told me that they thought it was time for me to get surgery. The reason this was disheartening was because all of the specialists I was seeing including an Orthopaedic surgeon were recommending I stay away from surgery unless I felt the need to. It was also disheartening to be told that I was making good effort and doing good things with my diet and avoiding potential issues to the herniated disc and still not see any improvements at the time. I was living in a state where I constantly told myself I was going to go back to soccer one day and losing my belief in that because all the specialists said to stay away from activity like that.
One of the big ones was when two months into the back/sciatic pain, the physical therapist wanted me to get a steroid injection because I wasn't improving and was the first one to say to stay away from all the activity that I wanted to gradually return to (soccer, running, biking). This shocked me at the time.
