Hi all,
I’m new to this forum, but not to the idea of mind body medicine. My physical “storm” started in 2013. It’s been a long journey, initially dealing with anxiety, chronic fatigue, dizziness, joint and muscle pain, digestive issues and headaches. I went down the route of being treated for chronic Lyme but eventually abandoned that once finding approaches to TMS (totally relate with the personality profile). I was able to resolve the dizziness and much of the fatigue, but have ongoing joint pain that involves crepitus/shifting throughout my body (essentially every joint) along with face redness/rash that comes and goes. This lead me to another visit with rheumatology to find I have a positive ANA but nothing that clinical exam and bloodwork can pinpoint a specific diagnosis. I have been given the label of hEDS. My digestive issues still come and go and now I’ve been dealing with lots more anxiety annd insomnia. I work in healthcare as an occupational therapist treating orthopedic injuries and other issues, so this training has definitely triggered fear when I see the struggles people have with hEDS or autoimmune conditions.
I think what’s really hanging me up is the amount of clicking and shifting I feel all over my body. I try and try again to acknowledge and soothe my brain, attempting not to care and create routines of both mind and body practices, but this isn’t something I hear people sharing success stories about. I’m really struggling despite trying to connect with joy, living in the moment, reassuring my brain.
Interested to see what support I can find here. Thanks!!
