Confirmed diagnosis and my symptoms skyrocketed

Hi,
I had a follow up appointment for my left foot on Friday with x-ray. My doctor confirmed CRPS which sent me in to bit of a spiral and my symptoms flared- even creeping over into the other foot. I know I need to calm my fear down. I think I need reassurance that CRPS is TMS so that I can really begin the work. Any insight or advice would be helpful.

I also have found Tamara & Rita’s website which has been a glimmer of hope. ~

Thanks for “listening.”

Tbh, I really don't believe that you can get any better than Tamara and Rita's recovery stories for inspiration regarding having been given a diagnosis of CRPS and it being TMS.

In case you haven't seen it, below is a great video of Rita being interviewed where she tells her story, and Tamara's book 'Defying the Verdict' is also excellent. And if you'd like to read their past postings, Rita's @miffybunny and Tamara's @TG957 on the forums (again, just mentioning this in case you didn't already know).

I'm not sure if Rita says about it in this particular video, but I remember her mentioning that her feet were so affected that all she could wear were big pink Crocs, and it was all down to mind-body/TMS.

Hi!

I completely understand how you feel - and I'm in no way trying to diminish that - but CRPS is a term given for a set of symptoms with no known cause. Given this, it's highly highly likely to be TMS and therefore your chances of recovery in this manner have skyrocketed in my eyes (from the doctor ruling everything else out) :)

CRPS pain is just a label for a set of symptoms that includes neuropathic pain, sensory problems, etc., highly unusual symptoms. I don't have an official diagnosis, but I guess I would have been given that label in my arms. Symptoms usually spread to the entire body. You already know that fear is what makes it worse and safety is what makes you start to improve. Try to stay calm and work on your fears. Gradually expose yourself to what you stopped doing and you will improve because you will calm the danger signal in your brain that causes those symptoms. I am currently feeling better.

Thank you all so much for taking the time to respond. I’m so caught up in fear and feelings of being overwhelmed - I’m trying to sort through it all.
