I have been wondering this lately... If the chronic pain has become a deeply engrained neurological pain pathway, and impossible to stop giving your 100% attention every waking moment, then is it possible that a new injury causing intense pain in a different part of the body could force your brain to have to focus on this instead and break the cycle and pathways of the chronic pain for good? I have had pain over the years move all over my body, but never more than one part of my body at the same time. That made me wonder if I was to suffer a real physical injury, would my brain focus on that acute, intense new pain long enough to weaken the neuro pathways of my chronic pain and end it for good? To be honest, if that works, I would be willing to intentionally hurt something (nothing serious) to get out of this low back pain cycle. I would gladly break my little toe or something else minor if it meant getting rid of my LBP! Thoughts? Experiences?
