So generally I'm doing well. In fact, I haven't been around the forums as my symptoms are much reduced and I am trying not to focus on the remaining pain. But there is something that has been annoying me for years and it suddenly occurred to me that some of you helpful people might have some suggestions or insights for me. I startle easily. Very easily. When my husband gets home (at roughly the same time every day), if I do not hear him until he appears in the same room as me I scream, involuntarily. A dog barking once made me spill and entire cup of (black) coffee, on a (white) sofa, in someone else's house. A door slamming in the wind will not just make me jump, but scream, audibly, every time. This is getting old. I have a new art studio, which I love. But the door slamming is a particular problem. Similarly the metal roof makes a sudden sound when it expands / contracts in the heat, and it is making it not a restful place to be - even though that was the studio's intention. Has anyone had luck addressing this, or have any advice for me? Google isn't turning up much.
