I live in Austin - you'd think there would be a doctor here familiar with TMS/Dr. Sarno, but I can't find them. I notice a Dr. Sklar in Ft. Worth. Has anyone seen him? I'm trying to find somewhere fairly local..... Any other recommendations welcome.

I highly recommend Dr Schubiner in Detroit or Dr Schecter in Los Angeles. I, personally went to each and can't say enough great things about each of them.

I am in the DFW Metroplex and chose to travel to them versus staying local.

Thank you so much for your reply, DFW! I'll look into those fellows! So nice to know there is another TMS supporter in Texas!

Hi. Did either of you guys come across others in DFW area? Thanks
Other what? People or doctors?

If you’re in search for a physician, I recommend Schubiner or Schechter. Hanscom in Seattle works in the same category of care. There are no Doctors in the DFW area that I ever found to be of much benefit in the mind body issues.

As far as a support group of other people with TMS symptoms, there are none that I’m aware of. In fact, I would not recommend that type of support anyway.

Hi. I meant doctors or therapist. Travelling out of state isn't an option for me. I have purchased Dr. Shubiner's "Unlearn" book/program. Just starting it this weekend. I can usually handle the pain issues; have done this via Dr Sarno books and related over the past 15 years. Symptoms creep back sometime every year or so. Reading Sarno and related material is not cutting it this go around and physical anxiety and insomnia are wreaking havic. I hope Dr. Shubiner's program works; but I was hoping to add some local support from TMS specialist. Maybe I won't need it. Thanks for the reply. Jim

I encourage you to buy Dr Hanscom book « back in control » He is based out of Seattle & is a top rated spine surgeon. He has a weekly email blast and a Facebook page, called back in control (go figure). Combine that with Dr Schubiner and you can also contact the pain physiology center in LA for a phone conference.
It will work, non-linear.

Also, understand the pain can & will always return. The point of « beating » it is to recognize it and move on. My pain returns, but usually no more than a day or so. That is success to me. The nueropathways are there, you just develope new ones around them.

I used every tool out there and IT WORKED.

Best to you.
