How do you deal with pain when you're in the long middle of it?

I get similar pain and tightening in my right glute, hip, and lower back. It's improving over time, but not as quickly as I want it too :) You're doing a lot of the right things, but you might also find that self-compassion (as taught by Christopher Germer, Tara Brach, and Kristen Neff, for...

    "The Work"

I love the replies you've already received, and I'll add here some concrete options that might help you jumpstart things: -frequent reviews of the relevant literature. You know it already, but you FORGET it in daily life. Reminders, in the form of daily reading of books or podcasts (I love...

    Help needed, neuro symptoms

I'm so sorry for your suffering. I know others have already said it, but it was one of the most important concepts in my healing process so I'll repeat it.... one of the things that is scaring you the most is how the symptoms are changing and moving--different places and different "flavors"...

    Turning Towards Difficult Experiences

For those out there who are practicing "Turning Towards" Approaches like Alan Gordon's somatic tracking, The Presence Process, many meditation approaches, Tara Brach's Radical Acceptance, etc. I thought I'd share this quote I came across by Pema Chodron: "Without Loving-Kindness, staying in...

Nontypical TMS symptoms - overcoming doubt

The great news for many of us is that a highly sensitized nervous system is a version of TMS according to many experts in the area :) In fact, some authors point out that if you have changing/moving conditions, this is excellent evidence that it is TMS. But I don't think you HAVE to have...

Nontypical TMS symptoms - overcoming doubt

For me the key point here would be that the the fact that the symptoms move (or come and go), no matter how long it takes them to move, and no matter how short or long the distances they move, means that each individual part of your body is capable of feeling good. They maybe just don't do it...

Nontypical TMS symptoms - overcoming doubt

Nowa, that sounds really hard and I'm sorry. I hope you are doing okay.

    How to trust myself?

This is fantastic advice, TG957, and very very relevant to me...I definitely have obsessive tendencies. I love the recommendation of daily review of progress and I'll start today!

    How to trust myself?

Embodydami my heart goes out to you. At this point, I have nothing of substance to update. I have amazing moments of pain free existence. Actually, that IS something of substance to update because it's been over a decade since I've had moments of no-pain. But they are usually pretty short...

Nontypical TMS symptoms - overcoming doubt

nowa, here is the link to the list of symptoms that Alan Gordon cured in himself before becoming a TMS therapist. I'm actually including the link for the whole program, because I want people to know it's there. So use this link and then click on Day 1 to get to the list I was talking about...

Nontypical TMS symptoms - overcoming doubt

Doubt is such a drag, isn't it? I'm not sure exactly what non-typical symptoms you are dealing with, so I don't know if you'll find my experience relevant, but here it goes. I have had a lot of different areas of musculoskeletal pain. 14 different areas of my body, (and that's not counting...

I just bounded down the stairs!

With no pain! Barefoot! And the stairs are hardwood! After 15 years of foot pain. The weirdest thing...I didn't even realize I was doing it until it was done. Hooray! I think this new breakthrough was largely due to my involvement in this forum and the support I've been getting from...

    Symptoms during sleep

If you find this approach useful, then I'd also recommend the (free) meditations on the (free) insight meditation app by Kristen Arbon. She does a lot of inner child and emotional awareness type of work. She doesn't have the same research base as Neff and Germer, but oh man....she's so good...
