    Therapy at a distance

I mostly lurk here, but occasionally post. I find myself in what I'm pretty sure is a major TMS episode. Bad cold produces terrible coughing fit produces epic back spasm: and I'm off to the races. I've had major TMS several times over the decades and minor incidents many times. I even had one...

    Chronic pain in all joints

While overdoing exercise is no good thing when you have TMS, you must maintain some level of activity and cultivate fearlessness when you are active. Activity alone will not make TMS go away (remember how Sarno dismissed the physical therapists?), but it's necessary for your health, state of...

    Knee instability

I've been having knee pain for over a year now, and have attributed it to TMS. I've had two earlier TMS periods in my life. It's primarily the left knee, but the right can be troublesome, too. I have TMS symptoms in other joints and muscles, as well--very clearly TMS. While I've pretty much come...

    Oxygen Deprivation

I'm curious to know what the current thought is about Dr. Sarno's theory of oxygen deprivation as a mechanism of TMS. I recently heard about another theory: That it's a phenomenon of the brain and nerve pathways, like phantom limb pain. What do you experts out there think?

Starting to despise my unconscious mind

I have a very hard time thinking that this entity has my best interests in mind. Tons of miserable pain. Messed up social life. Stress imposed on my wife. Productivity cut in half, therefore financial pressure. Fear-fear-fear. Limited mobility. Wasted year. I have thought psychological up the...

Any tips of being sucked back into the medication/treatment craze?

Since my doctoring early this year did succeed in banishing my GERD by unmasking it as nothing, I must give it nod. But my doctoring for the knee/wrist/ankle/back pain was all so ambiguous, it hasn't yet knocked it out. But yesterday I heard about one last blood test (OK as it turned out), and...

    Kids and Chronic Pain

I just saw this on BBC America news last night, and it's pretty sad that so many medical professionals have their heads in the sand. Could this be anything but TMS? http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-us-canada-23152464

    TMS + real injury

I've had TMS going in my knees, hands, & wrists for a few months now. Last week I twisted an ankle on a walk, and it's not exactly mending up; more pain now than a earlier. A fairly mild sprain, I'd say. I had some TMS in the ankles, too, that came and went. How do you distinguish pain from the...

Steven Ozanich Is body pain preferable to emotional pain?

My TMS is long since unmasked and unashamed, still recruiting new parts of my body to the pain program. I have pondered every possible psych issue, past and present; even seeing a shrink in hopes of finding something hidden. But the pain keeps a going. I feel that my salvation will be the route...

Worried no change of symptoms like other people

I've had one big shift of symptoms this time around--GERD going away after an endoscopy. Then the knee pain started and kept intensifying, with accumulating symptoms (back, hand/wrists). The TMS reveals itself here, but man, it is a bear, I gotta say. I am so exhausted from it.
