You actually want your brain to think you accept it. You want to get to the point you just don’t care what your TMS is doing.

So happy for you. Great work! I will definitely keep going on this journey, no matter how long it takes. I know this is TMS. I believe it will get easier when I also start to see some improvements.

May I ask what kinda resources you’ve found most helpful for your recovery?

That makes sense. I feel like I already don’t care about the symptoms in some kinda way. But I’m still scared that it will make them persist. Probably because I need to learn more about TMS that will make me even more confident.

In the midst of a flare up now too, I need to follow my own advice lol

So what if it does? "ignore" does NOT mean spending energy desperately repressing your awareness of your symptoms as if they don't exist. Resistance and Desperation will get you nowhere. In our world, the concept of "ignoring" symptoms is, in fact, all about accepting their existence, while at the same gently and kindly (with compassion for yourself) rejecting the idea that their existence has any importance or significance.

If you listen to enough of Nicole's podcasts you will hear her talk about "wearing it loosely" which is another way to describe this concept.

I’ve been watching some mindful gardener.. also in a flare within a flare…and they use the word allow.
Allow the symptoms but try to stick to your general daily routine as much as possible and just let the sensations, emotions, thoughts about it etc flow through you, as @JanAtheCPA points out. Your mind needs to know even with all you are experiencing, you’ll get through it. You don’t need the symptoms etc. if you aren’t bracing and fighting them. It’s not pleasant but better days are ahead!

This is exactly the explanation I needed. If I get to reject the idea that their existence has any importance or significance, I will be much more confident with the other part.
