    Isn’t that Carl Jung’s work where we form bonds between the ID, Ego and superego so that they are all aligned and at peace with each other?

    My understanding is it's basically what Sarno looked at, the deeper darker aspects of your personality. For Sarno it was mainly rage, for shadow work it is all the potentially repressed parts of yourself - any feelings or fears or hidden desires. So just drawing out your inner hidden parts.

    I think with all these things the knowledge is simple but the implementation isn’t easy. I now try to live my life now in the most authentic way I can and showing respect for my emotions and live life as free as I can be. Other than that it all gets too technical and complicated.

    I really enjoy Dan's videos and his approach about teaching your brain safety is what got me out of a dark hole and to recover. I really don't think his approach is that dramatic or "out there". I've watched many, many of his videos. His recent video I just watched talks about not repressing your feelings, accepting them, and moving on with life. Moving on with life = teaching the brain safety, which is something Sarno also encourages... get back to living life.

    I'm a simple person and I prefer pragmatic approaches. I don't respond well to extra fluff. That's probably why I never gravitated toward Nicole Sachs.

    Allow your feelings => move on with life

    This teaches the brain there is no danger, over time.

    I'm with you there. Initially I spent time trying to learn every practitioner's theory and incorporate some of them all and it turned into more stress.

    SO difficult! And especially the more difficult it is to move around. But there are still ways. Recently I started getting up each morning and “going to work” by 9AM. This, after the past year of having no reason to get out of bed. I would wallow around purposeless until noon. I’m retired now, but I gave myself a “job,” and I’m taking it seriously. It’s a hobby I’ve had for 20 years—writing novels. This one bit of structure and purpose is changing everything for me!

    Now I’m eagerly adding more structure. Doing dishes daily. Looking for recipes. Cooking dinner. Baking. Doing exercises. Walking up and down the living room. Doing little cleaning tasks. Practicing going in and out of the house. Spending only 30 minutes per day on TMS stuff.

    My husband and I bought the DVDs to some old TV shows we used to love, and we look forward to watching them every night. I go to bed happy and much earlier!

    I made a little schedule and I try to stick to it. (No pressure; just to feel more structured and to come out of my couch potato phase). I have a little book where I check things off as I accomplish them. (I love stuff like this.) beerbuds

    Suddenly, life is good! And I have a LIFE! :D I hardly think about TMS anymore. (Whereas, that’s ALL I ever used to do!) I have deliberately created something I look forward to in each part of my day.

    It comes from Jung's concept of Shadow. The place where we store the repressed feelings that are too "dangerous" to be allowed on the conscious level.

    As I recall, in his earlier videos, Dan mentions that Adam Heller's "Zero Pain Now" approach helped him to recover from years of pain.
