  • My Story

I've had intermittent low-back pain throughout my adult life. The pain has been more persistent recently (as we go into 2020). In 2001, I had surgery to correct a herniated disc and had an organic fusion of L4 and L5. That corrected the nerve pain but I continue to experience musculoskeletal pain and tension in my lumbar area, hips and buttocks. In addition, about eight years ago, I began to have significant nerve pain in the ball of my right foot. As an active person, I've struggled with how the pain has compromised so much of what I love to do, especially hiking and simply walking. It's been tough to deal with emotionally. In response, I've done a lot of deep body massage, some acupuncture, much chiropractics, and seen more PTs than I care to number. I've recently learned about Mind-Body Syndrome and the work of Sarno; my history (sensitive person, rough childhood, etc.) and my current condition seem to fit what he and others describe. I'm working my way into applying this approach to my life.
