I initially read Dr Sarno's "Healing Back Pain" which was great but i think so far, reading Dr Howard Schubiner's "Unlearn your pain" and studying Dr Joe Dispenza's recovery has really cemented my understanding and trust in the mind - body connection. It has taken it from a slightly disconnected, apathetic understanding of the material (yes, its interesting and i get it but not fully excited at the potential) to now going all in. A few years ago I also listened to "Do The Work" by Steven Pressfield which i think also has dovetailed into my understanding that real change comes from changing in the face of strong resistance and it's allowed me to have a greater awareness of thoughts and feelings which are keeping me in past events.
Although i'm still very new to it and do struggle sometimes, the belief that wiring new neural pathways can only come from not allowing that struggle to turn me away from the direction im goining in.
Interestingly also, another awareness I've had recently is for the past probably 4 or 5 years, the cruise control in my car has decided to stop working....no light comes on and no cruise control is activated. I figured it's just an issue in the steering wheel and that it wasn't important to tackle then as it is probably expensive to fix.
In the last few days, I suddenly noticed the cruise control light has come back on by itself without cruise control being activated - my immediate thought was that it must be a broken / loose wiring connection and I straight away saw it as a sign of what's going on with my unconscious brain - that due to an unconscious issue, my brain is firing a signal even when there is no cruise control (structural issue) activated....Why did it suddenly decide to appear now???
And my morning again spent with a quick trip to Kings Park to look over the expanse of our city, watch the cars on the freeway and try and be totally lost in that moment and the possibilities that await.
