What are your favorite features of the new forum?

Forest

Beloved Grand Eagle
I think my favorite is the "What's new" item in the menu bar. I don't click the down triangle; I just click on the heading itself:

It's amazing! I love how it features profile posts, threads, and forums all at once.

Have others found features that they especially like?

Advanced search for me! When I tested it on the testing site, I loved it at first sight and couldn't wait for the release of the new site! Thank you for your hard work, Forest! It looks nicer and is overall a more pleasant experience!

I like the "what's new" lightning bolt on the menu bar, next to the bell symbol for my notifications.

And I just discovered a cool new feature in the main drop-down menu, which is to list "Unanswered Threads" - eg: threads with no responses yet. I expect that a number of senior responders will want to make use of that.

I also like the ability for staff to highlight a thread under Featured Content.

I just found the "unanswered threads" section and really like it. It helps me focus my efforts on responding to people who are new here and may need some encouragement.

Here's a feature that could be useful, but which might produce alarming results If you are not expecting it:
The internal forum Search function now includes your private messages in the search results.

If you are searching on your symptoms, and if you are someone with a lot of Private Conversations (now updated and referred to as Direct Messages) in which you discuss your symptoms privately with another member, you might initially be alarmed to see these discussions in your search results if your search terms match topics in your messages!

However, having just reviewed and tested this feature at someone's request, I can assure everyone that the search results from DMs are restricted to the messages of the logged-in user who is performing the search!

FYI, instead of the default "Search Everything", searches can be limited to just threads (recommended for most), or to just profile posts, or your DMs, or to tags. Advanced search parameters can also restrict results to individual subforums and/or defined time periods.
