This issue started about 8 years ago with a broken tooth on my back bottom left. Was advised to have a bridge and have the tooth pulled. After the oral surgeon extracted the tooth I was soon fitted with a bridge.Thats when it all started.
1,Started having discomfort resonating through the bridge at the forward tooth on the bridge. This went on for a while and my dentist suggested removing the porcelain fused and fitted with a zirconia bridge.
2, no help with either bridge and my dentist recommended a root canal and the endodontist was 99% sure it would resolve the pain issue Nope
    3. Still having pain years later and the bridge broke an i was fitted with a crown and still had pain at the same tooth without the bridge in?
4, a year or so went by and the pain has steadily been increasing over time
5,The crown on the tooth Zirconia cracked and left a sharp jagged tooth that not ony was painful but sharp.
6, convinced it was the tooth the third new dentist recommended extraction to prepare for a bridge implant.
    7. After the tooth extraction the pain now moved to the next tooth forward with the same pain.
8, Dentist recommended extraction on the molar to prepare for the implant since it all needed to heal first.
9, still pain now and all three teeth where was once a bridge now are gone
10, Dentist recommended an orofacial surgeon to try and identify the source of the pain.after 3 visits the Orofacial surgeon said that the Oral surgeon may have damaged the nerve and or muscle in my jaw and did not recommend the implant procedure
11 Last resort was a Pain management doctor for about 6 or seven visits
Being prescribed different strengths of morphine and oxycodone tables alo g with gabapentin and other similar nerve pain pills. These painkillers had no effect on reducing the pain.
    12. Last resort now was recommended a trigeminal nerve block injection. This was another complete waste of time and money.
    This had Zero effect
SO this is where am 8 years later and the pain is getting increasingly worse as time goes on
    PLEASE HELP

Tooth pain can absolutely be TMS, the brain can generate symptoms anywhere. I’ve had TMS teeth pain (albeit mildly and resolved it quickly), I’ve had debilitating facial pain for a year now and have made so much progress, like unfathomable amounts. But it was a ton of work to break that fear because let’s be honest facial pain is super super tough to detach from and reduce fear of.

what’s your TMS knowledge like, have you read any books or followed any programs?

Most of what I have read about tmj seems to be mostly related to face and.jaw pain. If this is tmj related why do you think a trigeminal nerve block injection had no positive results?
    Thankyou for tesponding.

Yeah I have TMj, which is unquestionably TMS although the severe episode started from an acute injury and I have clear anatomical changes, doesn’t mean it’s still not TMS and that I can’t be pain free, because I do have genuine pain free moments where I forget it’s even there (unthinkable even 2 months ago)

I can’t really answer your question, because I’m not a doctor and I don’t know, I work as a veterinary nurse and have some general medical knowledge. It could’ve been user error when injecting, if it’s TMS then it’s the brain creating the sensations so I would imagine it is fully capable of creating pain elsewhere in the area in spite of the temporarily anesthetized nerve. Even with true physical issues it’s ultimately the brain deciding to process the problem and generate pain as a warning.

I’ve had TMS pain that I could reduce with topical lidocaine and other TMS pains that I couldn’t. It’s not really significant. TMS is wonky and looking too deeply isn’t going to get you anywhere good

the specifics really aren’t important, the question is whether you believe you have TMS and whether you believe you can recover.

    Thanks again for the info.
The odd thing is that the pain management opiods had almost no noticeable reduction in pain, however like with you the topicaldoes work bu not for long unfortunately.
Who or what type of physician would you think would be best to consult at this point?
    Thanks
    Chris

Chris you’re on a TMS forum, do you believe what you are dealing with is TMS, are you familiar with TMS? The modern medical model has shown no ability to help you. Do you believe you’re capable of helping yourself?

I am really looking for anything that will help although I don't belive it's either TMJ OR TMS.
Just hoping to find help for this pain
    Thanks again

I can’t help you Chris. If you want to learn more about TMS then the structured educational program on this site is a good place to start. But if you think what you have is a true physical issue then you aren’t going to find help here.
