Hi again Marco,
I had the exact same problem when I started. Here is the conclusion I came to after giving it some thought. Both this forum and the SEP contain a lot of different healing techniques - from living fully in the present through mindfulness meditation to digging up the past through journaling or parts therapy.
For a while, I felt overwhelmed and I jumped from thing to thing. But now I realize that the reason there are so many approaches is because we are all so different and complex and our stories and life experiences , while similar, are all one of a kind. In other words, what works for you might not work for me. It's a blessing that there isn't a one-size-fits all approach. Reminds of an anecdote a therapist once told me: the reason psychologists are called shrinks is because some try to make you fit into a specific mould (not criticizing these wonderful healers, just reporting an anecdote).
I simply tried different things, read different books and used a variety of techniques until I found what works best. For now I am finding the parts therapy and affirmations to be most helpful, because they have the gentle touch I need. You'll just know when you try the thing or combination of things that will work in your specific case. Just keep at it and things will become clearer.
