Hey there. I've doing recovery program based on TMS diagnosis for a while. One thing interferes me greatly is, I suffer from lateral shift. Keeping neutral posture sometimes becomes a hardship for me. It keeps pulling me back and persuading me this is structural.

Anyone else suffers from lateral shift here? Any ideas?

Hi! My husband and I both had lateral shifts. In The Mindbody Prescription, Dr. Sarno says:

"The pain may be in the muscles on one or both sides of the lumbar area and/or lower down, including the upper buttock, occasionally out to the hip area. Lumbar muscle involvement may tilt the trunk to one side. Lumbar pain may be excruciating, suggesting that the muscles are in spasm, a tight contraction of muscle that will not release.... Spasms may persist for hours or recur for days... When the spasm has been broken, you may continue to have a dull, burning or pressure pain. Persistent stiffness is part of the same syndrome [TMS] and may go on for weeks or months." (pg. 58)

My lateral shift finally corrected once I was introduced to the world of Dr. Sarno and TMS. Hope you have found relief or find it soon!
