TMS & fasciculations/ muscle twitching

Hi,

New to this forum after reading Dr. Sarno's book "The Mindbody Presciption" which was very insightful.
However I have not read much on a connection between TMS and benigne fasciculation syndrome or muscle twitching. I have fasciculations for over a year now and blood tests and visit to the neurologists have not uncovered anything so feel strongly that fasciculations are psychosomatic.

Just wondering if anyone on this forum has succesfully cured fasciculations/ muscle twitches using the TMS approach?

Yep, been there, especially after exercising. I still sometimes experience it but there is a connection between occurrence and how tense I am. Neurologist couldn't find anything wrong.
Beginning of 2013 I looked on the BFS forum and the only thing that seems to help is living your life without becoming bothered about it. Simply said, it is a hyped up nervous system that needs to die down.
So, give it time and the 'benigne fasciculations' will slowly die down. When it happens, don't let it bother you.
take care

maybe try massaging the part of the body that twitches.
Think calming thoughts while massaging and do deep breathing.
I never had the twitching, but think it's another symptom of TMS that requires learning to relax more.
Like yourself more. Stay more in the moment and not in the past or future. We can't change the past
and really don't know what tomorrow holds for us. Thank the Lord for the present moment, hour, day.
And don't worry. Muscle twitching is a passing thing.

Walt, in my experience massaging has no effect on this phenomenon. It is a short lived twitch from firing nerves, when moderate it doesn't even induce a force, but I also read about people whose leg or arm started to spasm uncontrollably. I don't think there is anything you can do about it other then treating it as TMS. Accept it and just let it happen.
In my case the twitching often occurs when I lie down or sit down, especially when lying in bed when you start to fall asleep. When I bench pressed a couple of years ago my whole trapezius started to 'hum' or 'buzz' every night for hours on end. In other cases it is a random muscle that had to work that day or that was tensed up for no reason (TMS) and suddenly starts to twitch for a couple of seconds. A muscle twitch that is very common, probably to a lot of people on this forum, is the eye brow twitch.

I know it can be a frightening experience when you start to have this symptom. Have it checked out by a specialist and if it is benign, treat it as any other TMS symptom.
