TMS and inflammation

I keep trying to convince myself that I have TMS but do have doubts/questions from time to time. According to Dr. Sarno TMS is not caused by inflammation. Last year when I had the worst bout of sciatica by back was very swollen which seems to me like an inflammation of some tissues. Can TMS and inflammation coexist?
Any insights on this question ?

I would follow Dr. Sarno's belief that inflammation does not cause pain.
If you keep thinking inflammation can co-exist with TMS, you are not believing 100 percent in TMS that repressed emotions
and/or a perfectionist and "goodist" personality are causing your symptoms.

Sorry if this sounds like tough love.

Thank you,Walt. I always thought that if is some body part is swollen that means it is inflamed. Am I not correct?
