Tingly and numbness between webbing of fingers

Hello again, I haven't been on in ages since I saw a tms specialist. Lately I have been having tingling between the webbing of my fingers and at the bottom of my fingers. I have it on each hand. I do have cubital tunnel and carpal tunnel in each arm so I think it is a new form of tms? It comes and goes though and sometimes it's either both or the other. Any thoughts would be appreciated. I have been ignoring my cubital tunnel and carpal tunnel but this has been popping up a lot recently. I hope it isn't structural.

Its the age old TMS question, what has been going on in your life? You mentioned that it comes and goes. Do you think that is because of emotional issues coming and going, or an ongoing thing that waxes and wanes?

It sounds like TMS, so take heart and dig deep.

Thank you for your feedback ! Yes things have been very emotional lately. I also notice that the chronic numbness on the back of my right hand has been flaring up as well on my dominant hand. It feels like it's numb most of the time too when I use my thumb at all. I think I need to get back into journaling. I wonder why tms has suddenly appeared and n a significant amount of problems too. It's very frustrating .
 
Okay, so my next question is are you doing self soothing and being kind to yourself? Since you say you have been away awhile, have you done Alan Gordon's program?
I'm sorry you're having this flare up, I hope you are doing better soon.

Has your carpal tunnel gotten any better since your earlier posts?

It has. The pain goes on and off now but it has reduced. Still have a long way to go though but I finally realize to accept the pain and discomfort.

Not recently no. I will try and see this as TMS since the person I saw sees no structural or tendon damage problems. Just I have not heard of constant numbness so I have been a bit confused about that part. The skin isn't number but underneath is. Have you heard of anything like that? They said I could use my thumb and this just being abnormal but still worried.

I'm not familiar with numbness myself. However, both Dr. Sarno's and Steve Ozanich's books say TMS can cause numbness. I'm so glad to hear that no structural problem or tendon damage was found. When you have an all clear, like you have received, you can proceed with TMS work. Read some success stories about arms, wrists and maybe hands too. You have this!

It's weird that the top layer of skin isn't numb on my thumbs and notice they are also the same in places I had strain injuries years ago. I also have trigger thumb in both thumbs and now it's numb under the joint. I was dumb for pushing through it so I think it may be structural if it is 24/7 no sensation. Pretty scared at the moment. Just they said to keep an eye on it.

I suggest you go to the first post on this thread, then read through the whole thing. Every thing points to TMS, but you are fighting the idea. You have given no evidence of it being structural and yet I don't think you're giving it a psychological go. This is all TMS.

Thank you for you support. I was really caught up in a fear loop that day. I have bad OCD as well and keep ruminating on the fear. I am also not familiar with this new symptom and this numbness isn't the usual pins and needles feeling and there is no feeling. So it's very scary. I am journaling now.
 
Hang in there and try to remember that it is the fear that is driving the pain/symptoms. Journaling has helped me tremendously....what could the lack of feeling be really saying? What emotions or feelings are you not allowing yourself to experience? Just a couple of thoughts...hope this helps and don't give up!

Good for you for seeing the loop!
When you notice any of your OCD symptoms, try to stay calm and supportive of yourself. Claire Weekes said someone could wash their hands all day, if they were not worried about it. The worry about it increases it. Being as prepared as possible to calmly allow your symptoms will help alleviate them.

Hello again. I just got back from my PCP. He said that I had de quervain's thumb in both hands. I wish he could have sent me to an mri but he did evaluate my tendons and said it was an overuse injury and the tendon is inflamed. He also said I had carpel tunnel in my dominate hand instead of both like someone previously said. He couldn't find my EMGs though so he couldn't check them, I guess at this point I'm pretty scared and depressed still. Like, I don't know if it really is true it's structual or not but if he didn't find anything wrong tendon wise I guess it is tms? Also other people on the forum say an inflamed tendon isn't tms so I'm also scared about that too. I did tell him the muscles under my skin are always numb but he didn't seem to be worried. I don't know. At this point I just really want to do what I love but am afraid too. Even if it is consistently numb at this point. My parents aren't supporting me and telling me to just do what the doctor said and limit myself. If the anti inflammatory doesn't work or the braces aren't , I'll have to go to another orthopaedic doctor. About my other rsi injuries, my left arm is spreading numbness down my forearm. I do notice that the numbness comes and goes for my arms which is good news.I guess I'm comparing the different numbness to my other injuries so that isn't helping me be reassured by that.
 
So, I just contacted to tms doctor in Saint cloud. His nurse called me and told me that he doesn't practice doing that anymore. She told me that my injuries were most likely overuse injuries since I used the keyboard and text alot. I am wondering now if I really do have tms since I haven't gotten an mri or x-ray done on my back just the emgs. So now I'm not so sure anymore. I am considering getting surgery at this point.
