Talking to myself

Marian

Peer Supporter
Cool experience in meditation this morning. As I sat down to meditate (I just do a basic mindfulness meditation on the breath for 20 - 30 minutes) my right hand started hurting. I ignored it for a few minutes but it started to amp up.

So I turned my attention to it and just said "Stop. You can stop now." Gently but firmly, without anger or resistance. Just saying it like a good leader would say it. And it did. I returned my focus to the breath.

And then the pain moved over to the left side, and I did the same thing... "We're not doing that anymore. It's okay. Time to stop." Focus back to the breath. Worked again.

Kind of like letting the mindbody know that it's now under new leadership. That the new leadership understands the unconscious rage and all the rest of it, and we can stop with the pain. Like the dog whisperer, but with my own body.

Pain returned a bit later, after meditation when I started looking at work emails, but still... that's something.

Yes Marion it is something special, you are proving to yourself that your are the one in control. This is exactly how I get rid of pain anytime it tries to show itself in my body. You are doing great, the main part is to keep at your mindfulness meditations ok. Getting conditioned to this special tool is key, if you listen to our last tuesday night show from this tuesday, Becca put it out yesterday. You will hear me talk about how I do this and how I came about learning to do it. I call it focusing but its basically mindfulness. Your doing great, know that your reconditioning and let nothing get you down. You are becoming the captain of your ship.
Bless You
