The amount of TMS-related material that is available these days is exciting - and a bit overwhelming. Be sure to keep up with the latest recommendations from our community members by clicking on "All Recent Threads" and dropping in on each one - there's some great stuff being posted, and you also never know when your personal input will be valuable to someone who is asking for help.

Here are some things I've come across recently that I think are worth forwarding. They are mostly not about TMS and Dr. Sarno, but I think they relate to the mindbody connection and add to our knowledge base:

The latest short (just 12 minutes!) episode of NPR's Short Wave podcast is titled "Why Big Numbers Break Our Brains" and it includes an awesome reminder/explanation of the fact that our brains are still incredibly primitive and still designed to work in a world that bears little, if any, resemblance to the modern world. That alone is really interesting, and the numbers thing is also really interesting. Did I mention it's just 12 minutes long? Why your brain struggles with big numbers : Short Wave : NPR

This one is self-explanatory: 10 Breathing Exercises For Anxiety - Deep Breathing Exercises (womenshealthmag.com)

Article from Wired about the placebo effect: https://www.wired.com/story/open-label-placebo-why-does-it-work/ (You Know It’s a Placebo. So Why Does It Still Work?)

I already posted this one last week, so I'll just add the link again here. The best piece of advice is in the middle, headed "Trade all-or-nothing for “good enough”, a concept which can easily be applied to your TMS work: https://www.seattletimes.com/life/wellness/two-numbers-to-ignore-and-three-pieces-of-nutrition-advice-for-2024 (2 numbers to ignore and 3 pieces of nutrition advice for 2024)

Finally, I just included this link in my latest Nicole Sachs podcast recommendation - it's a short article that does a great job introducing Nicole and her background and why you should consider following her work: Can Chronic Pain Be Relieved by Releasing Difficult Emotions? | by MedTruth | Medium
