I have a diagnosed small fiber neuropathy, what it's from,I don't know...it's not diabetic. I did have this Start ten years ago when I would walk and not stretch my calfs. So Is THIS TMS?,or is it likely something else. I've not had a clear answer on its cause. There are times when it let's up. I find that it's worse when I'm under stress, which I'm under.

Mark, I think you answered your own question. Since this is the TMS wiki, I'll go out on huge limb here, and give you my opinion as a non-medicine practicing tennis player, that there's a fair to middling probability, that this could be TMS. I've never heard of "small fiber neuropathy", but it seems that the allopathic/medical/industrial complex is getting pretty good at coming up with novel structural dx's to cover for the fact that they don't have the solutions for the 80% of the issues that their patients are in the waiting rooms for that are TMS. "Small fiber neuropathy" sounds amazingly similar to the Good Doctor's Tension Myositis Theory of minute oxygen deprivation at the capillary level, excruciatingly painful but BENIGN!

Stretching your calfs to prevent injury prior to walking?--really! I could see a reason to stretch before doing a hundred yard olympic sprint but not for walking. Stress+pain+no traumatic structural injury=TMS. TMS is the volume control for the pain.

G'luck,

Thanks, I remember now,I would have drop foot during my first few walks. Spent a small fortune on walking shoes, worked up to 5 miles every other day. So my calf muscles became very strong....rock hard. My Dr. at that time told me I needed to stretch and the ice/hot feelings would stop. Long story short a neurologist did 2 tests on me and diagnosed small fiber (small nerves) neuropathy. My own Dr told me the "specialist" was looking for too much....my own Dr thinks it's an idiopathic issue meaning, there's no known reason why. Well,it's one of the pain that is severe so, I must find a way to ease my mind and get tougher with it!

Thanks for input....
Mark
