Senator Tom Harkin of Iowa suffered from terrible back pain in the late 90's. He was days away from having highly invasive surgery on his back when a friend sent him "Healing Back Pain". After he read the book he rapidly improved. As he said at a Senate hearing, he "hasn't had a back pain since". On February 14, 2012, Dr.John Sarno appeared before this Senate Committee on Health, Education and Pensions to address Pain in America: Exploring Challenges to Relief.

Great video clip. In the same hearing the senator also mentions how a close female relative was cured of terrible fibromyalgia. He is a great believer & a strong advocate.

I have not but I am very familiar with Lang & Canon's theories which I think are elaborated in the books is what I would guess.

Lang or Liang as it is sometimes spelled refers to psychologist RD Lang who did research on emotions. I imagine Canon is also someone in a similar field.
