Self-love causes pain???

Hi, 2 weeks ago I read a book about self-love and for the first time in my life I really understood that this is what I miss most in my life. So now I am learning how to accept myself in every situation as I am, to accept all the unpleasant feelings and also my "faults" . And I am reading some books about self- love.
And every time I think or read about self -love my pain gets much worse!!
Is it possible that a part of me does not want me to deal with self-love and therefore creates more pain? And if yes, what can I do with this unconscious part?

I'm no expert. Just let me say that first.

However, I would *think* that it's not the self-love that is exacerbating symptoms, but perhaps the emotional memories connected to why it's hard to love yourself. In other words, the experiences that have lead to a lack of self-love. If it were me, those are the issues I would be focusing on through writing or therapy, etc.

Also wanted to add that I am a beginner and I find structure really helpful. Looks like there's a program available here: http://www.tmswiki.org/ppd/Structured_Educational_Program (Structured Educational Program)

Best wishes!

Thank you Jennifer_K!
I have CRPS (or something like that) since 6,5 years and I have already worked through the SEP, had 5 years of
Psychotherapie, talked to TMS practitioners (also to Steve Ozanich), meditated, did The Presence Process for 10 weeks, did self talk, read a lot of books (TMS and others) etc.
Most of the time when I deal with self-love I have good feelings and then my foot starts to hurt more, that's what I don't understand.
