Yesterday’s shift was fairly uneventful, which I’m very grateful for! I had some small moments where I was very aware of my back, some soreness and deep aching, but no significant pain like I’ve had before. It’s difficult for my mind to come to terms with that this actually is working. I can’t deny the facts though. If I was having this response from a traditional medicine approach, like surgery, PT, injections, etc., I’d be shouting from the hilltops how great it is! I don’t know if it’s lack of belief in it, as I obviously believe enough to be seeing results, but I think a lot more of it is the stigma I fear of telling people about this. We all can agree this sounds like a bunch of voodoo before you actually learn the facts with an open mind. I find myself doing my journaling, studying/exercises for the program, and my daily thread here, all in secrecy and private because I’m afraid someone’s going to ask me what I’m up to and I’ll have to explain it all. With time I’m sure I’ll be a lot more comfortable with this as results are results, and this is something worth sharing.
In the activity today, I discovered a deep-rooted resentment for a close family member. I’m really grateful for journaling. I’ve mentioned before that I feel grossly undeveloped in my ability to feel emotion, but journaling is helping a lot with that. I still don’t know how to experience things in quite yet, but journaling is at least letting me acknowledge emotions, and that it’s okay to feel them, regardless of what they are. For a little over two weeks I’ve been following Nicole Sachs’ Journal Speak and it works wonderfully for me. Writing out on paper instead of typing and tearing it up immediately after with zero evidence really allows me to truly write what I feel without any inhibitions. I look forward to more progress next shift!
