Running "Injury" Or TMS?

Aziz

Peer Supporter
Hey guys,

After reading Steve Ozanich's book, I decided to start moving into my pain, rather than living in fear of it.

As I did so, my TMS symptoms began acting up. Instead of stopping, I kept jogging each day. To my surprise, some of my major symptoms (back pain, pain the buttocks, leg weakness) just WENT away (temporarily, but still!).

Here's my challenge though.

Several days ago, I started feeling a lot of pain in my lower right calf. Between the fleshy calf muscle and my achilles. Each time I landed on my right foot, it hurt this area.

My question is -- is this just TMS pain migrating to a new part of my body?

My mind says, "now this, this isn't TMS pain, no one mentioned calf pain in the books, it has to be an injury, you should clearly stop running."

Is that just fear of pain talking, or is it an actually injury that I should lay off of for a while?

I'm just looking for opinions and knowledge from you own experiences.

Thanks!!

Aziz

Hey Aziz,
sounds like your onto the journey and doing fine
Id let the calf rest a few days just to make sure - it might need some rest
with that being said - then go right back to your
exercises if there not causing pain.

You could be having a symptom imperative and if so
you have the pain on the run- congratulations

The only thing about the symptom imperative-
is its your mind that's fighting you back
to keep you in pain so you might have a shoulder or hip pain too.
just don't think this will happen and if it does it will pass if
you don't focus or fear the imperative

Make sure to keep doing your journaling and mind thought therapy
or your preferred protocol as long as the 12 daily reminders are their
also the meditations
you know like awareness and mindfulness.

While exercising and when your not exercising keep
thinking about running pain free and so forth.

These visualizations have power to give you what you see,
practice visualizing exercising while your letting your leg rest

Now you could say ok , is this tms- well tms don't go away with rest
but a regular muscle soreness does. They could still feel the same way
that's why we do good to test the soreness, keep thinking psychologically too.
Remember - tms don't go away with rest but a regular muscle soreness does.

you should heal nicely either way.
