RSI + some other symptoms

    Hello together,

First of all two things I want to mention before I talk about my TMS journey:
    • Sorry for my English... it's not my mother tongue :)
    • I want to say thank you to all of you. The forum helped me to get through hard times and it also helped me to realize that my symptoms are caused by TMS.
    My journey:

I have suffered from RSI since Christmas 2020. It all started very quickly. I had severe pain in my right arm and could no longer type or use the mouse. Luckily, I was on vacation at the time and I was able to recover a little. For the next 6 months I worked in my office job every day with pain: sometimes more, sometimes less. Rest pain was also present, but not always. I could not get the problem under control. During the six months, I had also other symptoms: I had problems with my breathing (the problems returned as soon as a lung specialist found no abnormalities). Interestingly, I had some days at this time when I could type almost pain-free, probably because TMS was simply looking for a different focus area. I also had numbness in my right foot from time to time.

When I read more about TMS, something exciting began: my hand pain decreased significantly. I was full of optimism that I would get better quickly. Suddenly there was a severe setback during a meeting. I experienced numbness in my face, ears, back, both hands and probably elsewhere. I went into panic mode. This scared the hell out of me! I knew I had to change something, I couldn't go on like this. Together with my employer, I decided to take some time off, which I am still in. I use the time off to get everything under control again, to do things that I enjoy and to get healthy. A week ago, I also received the information that everything was fine with my skull MRI, and since that day, the recurring numbness in my face has almost disappeared.

I am on the road to recovery. I am confident that I will be completely pain-free in a few months. I am also convinced that I have no physical illnesses. I can physically work, do sports, etc., all without pain in my right hand.

Only I still have some problems when I use the PC. Especially when typing on the keyboard. I have not yet completely gotten rid of the fear of pain. I try to work on the PC several times a week for one or two hours. The progress is quite ok, but now and then pain and a strange feeling appear. Especially after the activity. When I get on my bike afterwards and go for a tour, the pain is gone again. Even typing this text does not work perfectly, but to some extent, I get it right. I just don't know if I could do it the whole day ;-)

On my journey to healing, I am still missing a few pieces of the puzzle. I try to stay patient, but I am grateful for any help.

    Greetings and thanks for everything

What you experienced in the meeting was extinction burst well explained by Dr. Sarno. Recovery is not linear, it consists of ups and downs. Don't be afraid of setbacks. As long as you are seeing some improvements, you are on track. Fear of setbacks is your worst enemy!
